30 minutes left

Waking up with a gasp is a very uncomfortable feeling, especially when you mix that with falling of a couch.

Me landing on the ground with a loud 'thud' was enough to alert those who were in the room with me, as about 3 people came rushing to my side, firing questions at me.

Groaning, I shakily ask "w-what's the time?" While forcing myself up on shaky arms.

"11:30pm, why?" Someone answered from behind me and if I tilted my head round slightly, I could make our the faint shape of at least two other people.

Sudden memory of my 'dream' came to mind, and of what my father had explained to me and of what I need to do, and soon.

Taking in a shaky breath, I said the thing that they had probably least expected me to say or at least right then, "I know what you are." The silence was defining. A pin being dropped would have echoed. No one was breathing. It was as if everyone was holding their breath, just waiting something to happen.

Looking up from the ground I noticed that everyone present in the room was steering at me with their mouths slightly open and eyes wide with shock.

Seeing as everyone was frozen in shock, I slowly started rising from my place on the wood floor and made my way towards the door. Making it to the door, I turned round to see that no one had moved even an inch and it didn't look like they were going to any time soon either. With that in mind I slipped out the door and took of in to a sprint through the woods towards the old lake where my father always took my brother and I in summer.

Unknown to me at the point I did have a follower and not just any follower, a huge black wolf.

It had only taken me 15 minutes to reach the lake, which hadn't changed much over the years. It was still a bright vibrant mix of blues surrounded by a lushes sea of greens reaching towards the sky. Outside of the sea of grass was towering trees that could put even a giant to shame. Smack dab in the middle of the large lake was a large flat rock face that if you looked closely enough, you could just make out the faint outline of a set of stairs hidden amongst the moss and bushes, surrounding the edge of the rock.

Now my only problem is finding a way over to the rock because there was no way to get a boat or anything like that over anywhere near there because of the rocks under water that could smash the bottom of the boat. The only way over there would be to swim but the thing is I don't know what's in the water anymore. But there's only one way to find out, risk it or just give up and I don't give up no matter the situation.

With that in mind I dove head first in to the cool water and started swimming to the large rock face in the middle. It took me a couple of minutes to reach the middle and even thou I should be exhausted, I wasn't, if anything I felt more energetic then ever, like I had a ball of straight energy inside me that was leaking all through my body, electrifying my limbs.

Suddenly, that glorious feeling faded and morphed into excruciating pain. It felt like my whole body was on fire but not normal fire, it was hotter, way hotter then normal fire. After the burning sensation it turned to pain that was worse then I have ever felt, it felt as if all the bones in my body were braking and splintering only to start reforming into a new position, completely different from there original place.

After what felt like hours but in reality would have only been a couple minutes at most. The pain seemed to have stopped until it felt like my skin was being burned off of all the bones in my body only to be replaced by what feels like fiery substance in the shape of something that at the present is completely unknown to me.

Once I was sure all the pain had stopped I slowly tried rising from the ground only to feel completely different. I had something sticking out my rear, my arms were not arms they were almost like, well are, wings, covered in beautiful gold, red and yellow feathers. Then my legs were what looked like bird legs, long, thin, but meaty at the thighs.

Walking towards the water to have a better look at myself, only to find instead of my usual self steering back, it was a type of bird but not a normal bird, no it was a red, gold, and yellow feather covered bird.

'That isn't me' was the last thing that went through my mind before everything turned black.
