The Heiress of the Sistrum

Chapter 7

I woke up, my mind foggy with last night's events. It took a few moments for reality to hit me. The Oracle, the prophecy and how sweet Derek was. I smiled at that thought.

I looked at my phone and it was 10:00 am, I was late. I looked around the tent but Derek was no where to be found. I got dressed quickly in a pair of skinny jeans and a loose white v-neck and I wore a pair of black converse. I put my hair in a ponytail, applied sone lip balm and headed out.
I spotted our group and walked to them.
"Good morning" I said smiling,
They returned my greeting, I sat between Derek and Claire,
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Derek said
"Don't worry, I'm fine" I said reassuringly,
"I saved you some breakfast" He said.
I smiled at how caring he was, and gladly accepted two chocolate muffins from him.

My mind kept drifting to last night, I honestly couldn't believe what happened. It was so surreal. I tried to keep my expression blank, but it was hard. Every now and then I would frown and Derek would look at me with a worried expression. I just gave him a small smile each time to keep his worry to a minimum.

The tiresome day passed rather quickly and now we were gathered around the fire. They were doing karaoke, I had to gather all my self control to stop myself from singing. Now I know that my voice has some sort of power, I am scared of what might happen if I sing. I can't risk to have Derek's eyes glow again or Elijah's or Sebastian's. I remained silent in my seat, staring at the raging fire.

"Hey, Adele" Mike said
"Hey" I replied weakly, Derek glared at him when he sat next to me. I smiled at the possibility of him being jealous and turned my attention to mike.
"Why are you not singing?" He asked
I tried to think of a lie to tell him,
"Not feeling like singing" I replied
"Of course not, you have the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, almost addictive" He said sighing dreamily.
"What?" I said freaking out, Is he addicted to my voice?Oh God.
He pulled my hand against my protests and said shouting.

"Now Adele is going to sing a beautiful song with her beautiful voice"
Derek was shooting daggers now with his eyes at Mike, he looked like he could rip him to shreds.
I contemplated between running to the tent or singing, but something inside me told me to sing. I followed my inner voice, hoping I would not regret this.

Stop the world from spinning round
Feels like the sky is falling down

Skipping stones
An echo on the water

As I sang skipping stones by Claire de lune, one of my favourite songs,
I looked around at the faces looking intently at me, Derek was smiling at me like he was proud, every one else seemed to out of place to function.
As I sang the last few notes, cheers and applause erupted.

Only one person looked scared, Kate.
She stood up and whispered something to Derek, and motioned for me to follow them. Elijah and Sebastian followed as well, leaving a delusional Valerie and Claire.
They were going to follow us but Sebastian told them to stay.
I had a feeling this was going to end badly. Most times this feeling was true, which made me anxious.

"How could you sing, If you don't know how to control your voice." Kate said yelling at me once we where a safe distance away from the rest of the campers.
"I could sing whenever the hell I want to" I yell back.

"You don't know your capabilities, Do you?" She said in a lighter tone.

"And you do" I said

She nodded her head, "How do you know? Unless you possess some sort of power" I said.

Derek and the rest were looking at us cautiously, as if we could explode or more likely me. None of us know what I could do and we should all be scared

Kate looked at me closely as if she was reading me, "I can read auras, I can tell if your human or not, I cant tell your mood, I can manipulate your aura, I can control your emotions. Very similar to what you can do with good training. "

"You can train her" Derek said,

"I can help her of course but we need to know her specific capabilities from the books in the library" she explained, "don't worry Adele, I want to help you to harness your power and through your journey"

"Does Valerie know?" I said

"No, she doesn't. But I know that her and Claire have powers as well but they are unaware of it."

"How can you exactly tell what we are by our auras?" Elijah said

She smiled a little but covered it up,
"Auras have seven colours, same as the spectrum colours. Humans are surrounded by each colour according to their mood, but for example werewolves have the same aura colours but with a wolf spirit surrounding it. As for Adele's aura, it's so beautiful. She is constantly surrounded by floating musical notes and harmony"

"Can I see it?" Derek said

Kate nodded her head, "You're an alpha, you can see a part of her aura in complete wolf form"

"Why can't he see all?" Sebastian said

"Because he's not an aura reader" she replied.

I was so messed up by everything yhat happened within the last few days.
Any one would be overwhelmed. All I wanted to do was run and let of some steam before my rage exploded.

"I need to have a walk" I said looking at them, "alone" I said looking at Derek.

"You can't walk in the woods alone" Derek said.

"I have two legs so I guess I'm pretty capable of doing so", I didn't mean for my reply to sound harsh or upset Derek but it clearly did. He turned on his heels and left us.

I did the same and walked in the opposite direction deeper in the woods. I kbew I could get lost but I didn't care at the time. I walked taking un my surroundings, the scenery of the moon and the trees calming me down.
On my way back, I heard twigs breaking and sounds of movement filled the air. I looked behind me and shrieked back in fear.

A creature I couldn't name stood a few meters away from me.
