Part 15. Peter's mistake and Carla's embarrassment

It was the morning of Steve and Michelle's wedding and Carla was running a little late. Carla grabbed her makeup and her dress, told Peter she'll see him at the wedding and then ran out of the door.
As she entered the Rovers, she saw how it was beautifully decorated by Liz ready for the reception. She headed for the back room and when she entered, she saw Maria doing Michelle's hair.
"Hiya, sorry I'm a little late." Carla said as she sat down and placed her makeup bag down and hung her dress up ready to change into later.
"It's alright, bubbly?" Michelle offered.
"None for me ta." Michelle looked at her shocked as Carla turned down her offer of champagne.
"You? Carla Connor just said no to alcohol?" Michelle laughed.
"Haha, I'm just not feeling very well." Carla laughed.
"I'm going to go and get some clips, I'll be back in a minute." Maria said as she left the two sisters alone.
"So, have you told Leanne or Peter yet?" Michelle raised her eyebrows.
"No, but we're telling them tonight." Carla looked nervous and spoke quietly. As she finished her sentence Maria entered the room again.
"Do you want me to do your hair next Carla?" Maria asked, not suspecting anything at all.
"Yeah please Maria." Carla said as she began applying her make up to her soft skin.

Michelle, Carla, Maria and Liz waited outside eagerly to enter the church room. When the music in the church room began playing, Michelle smiled and Carla smiled proudly. Michelle began walking with Barry, her father, giving her away. Carla, Liz and Maria walked behind her. Peter watched as Michelle grabbed Steve's hands when she reached the altar. Nick watched at Carla walked behind her.
"Can we all be seated." The registrar said. Everyone obeyed her and sat in their seats. Peter kept watching Carla and Steve and was surprised that Carla wasn't showing any signs of jealousy. Nick just watched Carla the whole time, he didn't listen once to what the registrar was saying, he was too caught up in Carla's looks.

As the ceremony went on, Peter started to get uncomfortable.
"Do you Steve take Michelle to be your lawfully wedded wife?" Said the registrar.
"I do." Peter's heart started racing.
"Do you Michelle take Steve to be your-" Before the registrar could finish her sentence, she was interrupted.
"I'm sorry Michelle, I can't let you do this." Peter said. He caught everybody's attention, including Carla's who was confused as to why he interrupted the wedding. "I can't let Steve make a fool out of you."
"Excuse me?" Michelle said, unimpressed and slightly confused herself.
"Your amazing husband-to-be, hasn't exactly been faithful to you." Peter shouted across the room as he was near the back. Michelle looked at Steve shocked and Steve looked at Peter confused.
"What?" Steve shouted back.
"Your fiancé has been sleeping with my wife behind our backs." Peter shouted. "Turns out, they've been going at it behind our backs for months." He ended as everyone started to mumble. They all turned to look at Carla, who really wasn't pleased and was still confused. "I would have been faithful me, ain't that right Carla?"
"What? No we haven't?!" Carla shouted. She would have asked him what gave you that idea? But that would probably lead to her and Nick's secret come out in front of everyone she knew, she didn't want that.
"Yeah we haven't been doing anything?!" Steve also shouted.
"Peter sit down, they haven't been doing anything!" Michelle backed them up. Nick looked at Peter and Carla and he breathed heavily. Peter looked at everyone as they all stared at him. Due to embarrassment, Peter stormed out of the church. Carla watched as he slammed the door behind him. She then looked at Nick, who was sitting 3 rows behind her. They both had worried looks on their faces.
"Shall we go on?" The registrar asked.
"Yes, carry on." Michelle said as she looked at Carla. "I do." Michelle answered the question she was about to be asked as she slipped the ring on Steve's finger.
