Ahkmenrah's POV
To sum up what I have been doing basically turns into me being a mess. I have to rule Egypt and my heart hurts. That is not a good mix. It's only been a day and a half since she left.
"Baby brother is not acting like himself. All because of a girl not even from Egypt. Just being honest, Ahkmenrah, but you never had a chance with her anyway." Kahmunrah said with his hands caressing my cheeks.
"Don't," I said and pulled away from his grip. I left him standing in his place.
Is it a good idea to go search for Katalina? No, it probably is not. I don't want to do it with the guards' knowledge. I will have to sneak away.
I changed out of my royal attire and put on clothing less flashy. Without anyone seeing I snuck out of the palace and through the city without anyone even noticing.
I continued walking through the desert looking for Katalina. She's been gone for a long time. I don't think I will find her very soon and the sand is very hot.
I walked a few more miles and I saw a heap laying on the ground. I went closer to it and saw it was Katalina.
I ran to her and kneeled by her and put my head on her chest listening for a heartbeat. I was very week. I looked at her face and saw blood on her cheek. She is hardly breathing.
"Oh shit. Katalina..." I said sadly looking at her.
I picked her up gently and walked back towards the palace. I wanted to take a break but Katalina hasn't woken up yet so I must continue.
I finally made it to the palace and took Katalina to the royal doctor. He was surprised by me entering without any warning.
"Ahkmenrah? What is the matter?" He asked.
"I found Katalina laying out in the desert. She is barely breathing." I said. He nodded and motioned for me to lay her down.
After I laid her down for him he motioned for me to leave. I kissed Katalina's hand and left the room and started back to mine.
"Ahkmenrah. You left." Kahmunrah said glaring at me. "If you're leaving you're not meant to rule."
"I went out to find Katalina," I said back quietly.
"You went back to find the girl who rejected you." I nodded slowly. "And what if she rejects you again."
"I do not know. But she almost died out there Kah." I said and walked to my room and changed back into the royal attire. While I was changing the royal doctor knocked on my bedroom door.
"Ahkmenrah, she is awake and a little afraid of me. You may want to see her." He said and we both rushed to his office. He let me go in on my own.
"Katalina," I said seeing her so scared. She turned to me and hugged me while crying. "You're okay. He is trying to help you." I said soothingly. She nodded.
"I do not want his help. I don't need his help," She said. "Ahkmenrah, I am sorry. I didn't mean to leave. I was scared." She said falling to her knees. Crying. I went down by her and sat pulling her to me.
"Katalina, I am not mad. Yes, I was sad, but then I was scared you were hurt," I said to her. She is crying into my shoulder. "Do you want to go up and rest?" She nodded.
I lifted her from the ground and walked her to my room and laid her on my bed. I laid next to her and she was no longer crying but now just sniffling.
I started to move so I could leave and leave her be, but she came closer to me and I decided I would stay. I kissed her forehead as she finally fell asleep.
I took off my crown and placed it on the floor next to the bed and held Katalina close to me and slowly I felt myself falling asleep as well.
I was harshly shaken awake. I looked to see Kahmunrah standing above me glaring. I stood up and followed him out of my room.
"What is your problem now?" I asked. Yes, that was a little mean, but he should have woken me up nicer.
He slapped me.
"No need to be rude, brother." Hypocrite. "You left the palace. Without anyone. You thought no one saw. I saw you," He said as a rubbed my cheek.
"I left to find Katalina," I said quietly.
"Oh. Alone. What if something happened?"
"Why would it matter to you?" I asked just as quietly.
"I didn't mean to you." He said and pushed past me. He has problems. I went down to the kitchen and got some food and water for when Katalina wakes up. I set the food on the table in my room and I sat on the bed next to her.
Eventually, she started to wake up. She sat up and faced me and hugged me scaring me. That's how I knew she was awake.
"I brought you some food and water." She nodded and drank some water.
"Thank you." She said softly.
"You're welcome," I said and let her eat in silence. "Katalina. What happened while you were gone?" I asked her curiously. "How did you get this cut?" I asked about her cheek.
"After I ran, I didn't run very far until a group saw me. They stopped me and I was out of breath and I don't know what happened after that," That is not good. They could have literally done anything to her. "I do not remember how I hurt my cheek." She said. "And when I woke up and was here. I had never seen the man, who I now know as the doctor. I was very frightened." I nodded.
"I am sorry I made you feel to run away." I apologized.
"Do not be sorry. I am okay and it made me think," I nodded for her to continue. "I love you Ahkmenrah and I would love to marry you."
