Good-byes

We had a month and three weeks to get everything sorted and put into place, top priority for us was getting everything ready to the standard that Gran wanted.

This meant she spent more time gardening and with us as a whole, whilst we took over more of her usual activities: washing, cleaning and cooking. The time we spent together seemed more precious somehow. We all pitched in so that she'd have more time to do things with us before she left. Although she wasn't at all keen on letting us do those jobs, she's always said that she enjoyed doing those mundane tasks. That they make her feel more in touch with her humane side.

Leah and Mum planned a going away campfire for Gran, although she didn't know it at the time. Similarly Eleazar and Nahuel organized a hunting trip where we'd be able to hunt Gazelles, Gran's favorite. Granddad planned a weekend get away trip, to Isle Esme for them both. It''s hard to believe it but Alice and the other girls managed to organize, buy and pack an entire 5 suitcases, in a single week. It's a new record even for them.

The lead up to the final days we truly came together and celebrated having such a wonderful person as Esme in our family.

At 6 o'clock in the morning on the day Gran was leaving we were all assembled in the living room.

"I want you all to promise me something."

"What is it Esme?" Carmen asked.

"I want you all to be as welcoming as I know you all are, make her enjoy her stay here if possible and try to behave yourselves." she replied with a small smile pulling on her mouth.

Dad laughed.

I looked at him questioningly whilst Jasper asked Gran why she's feeling embarrassed and smug.

"Esme just thought of a solution in case the new mum decides to try something with Carlisle." Dad smirked.

"What is it? Come on you have to tell me! Come on, I'm your evil mastermind teacher Esme. I should know this." urged Emmett.

"I figured I would get you all to promise me that you'd pull a prank on her for each and every time you witness it, make sure that you only prank her for the times when it was caught on camera, otherwise just shout rape at the top of your lungs. You will be able to get away with it, but Carlisle wouldn't if he tried to evade her pursuits. You'd all probably regret it after rule change." she admitted.

"We'll do more than that Esme." Tanya assured with an evil glint in her eyes.

"Alright it's time for the leaving gifts now." Alice announced.

"You're not allowed to open yours until you leave," Kate told her.

"And these ones are for the children and the new 'husband'." said Seth passing her a red bag.
