7. The beginning of a mermaid life < 2 >

"Rikki why are you dressed like this and why are you wearing sunglasses inside the school?",Brad said.

I groaned mentally,how did he recognise me.

"Hi. . . Um no reason",I replied.

"I just feel like dressing like this today . . . And there's nothing wrong with what i'm wearing",I said defensively.

"Give me a little credit,Rikki to be able to tell when you are lying"He said steering me away from the way and to a little corner.

"Erica Vanessa Rothery,what are you hiding",He asked in a typical authorative voice.

"How do you know my middle name,I don't remember telling anyone or you. . . or else you saw my school document",I said accusingly whilst watching him with suspicious eyes.

I was surprised that he knew my middle name and a thrill of pleasure went through me that he knew my middle name.

Then a thought occurred to me,he may know all the middle names of those other girls and my slight joy deflated.

"Stop digressing from the topic on ground,Rikki,what are you hiding",He said.

"Like i said,none of your business",I said firmly.

I was walking away when a hand grasped my wrist gently and firmly.

"Rikki . . . I'm sorry I have no right to question you,I didn't mean to annoy you",He said solemnly.

"It's okay",I said still frowning while struggling to stop my lips from curving into a smile.

"Let me make it up to you and buy you a drink during lunch today",Brad said.

"Oh I'm sorry I can't, you see I have an assignment with Emily which I must submit to the teacher tomorrow, so we are doing that assignment during lunch",I said hastily.

"Calm down Rikki,I'm sure we can do it some other time",Brad said.

"Apart from tomorrow",I said.

"Why? What are you doing during lunch tomorrow?",he asked.

"I'm sitting with Nick . . . And you're asking too much questions, I gotta get to my next class now so see you later",I said to a now scowling Brad.

We went our separate ways and I sent a text to Emily asking her to meet me in the library during lunch.

Though my first class was boring, I listened to my teacher while thanking God that she didn't ask me to remove my sunglasses .

In the library,Emily and I found an assignment to use to occupy ourselves,she also made me promise to go to the beach so, and I quote, that she can see me in all my glory.

I saw Rikki in the hallway and she looked good. Though her clothes were a bit strange and after speaking to her,I realised that her aura had changed a little bit. Numerous things had changed about her and though I could not read her aura, I was able to spot a few physical changes with my sharp eyes.

For one,her once rosy cheeks were not so rosy and they looked more porcelain. Her fiery gold-blonde hair was now like spun gold with hints of red.

Rikki had pretended not to be herself so she could avoid me and if not because I knew her aura and scent like the back of my hand, I wouldn't have recognised her.

Erica Rothery was trying to hide something and I was going to find out somehow and very soon.

But I must find a way to get rid of that Nick boy, he was getting a little bit too smitten with my Rikki.
