Chapter Twenty-one

Max

I held onto Katherine.. I didn't want to loose her. I knew the demon side of her is getting stronger. And she was glowing a dim red. Shit. I walked her out of the room and I could hear Soren yell after me. "Hey! Where are you going?!" I slammed the door behind me with my foot. I walked her over to her room and laid her on her bed. I kept my distance with her since i was afraid of being attacked by her, again. She started to wake up a bit and i turn to her, she looked back at me. I tense up a bit as she gets out of the bed and slowly begins to approach me, her hand slowly reaches up causing me to flinch, only to feel her soft hand gently caresses my cheek.

"Max.." she mumbles. I look down at her and I smile sweetly. My baby is back. I gently place my hand on her right cheek and I slither my hand around her waist. Her arms wrap around my neck as we both lean into a tender kiss. Oh how much i missed this Katherine, so kind and innocent, not being controlled by the demon side of her. I began to think about how much i will miss her when she awakens in a month. I cant tell if she will ever be the same or if there will still be a little bit of this loving Katherine inside that heart of dark emptyness.

But what if I'm wrong? What if the awakened her will be just like her now. Except. You know. An awakened demon.

Katherine

I slowly pull away from the kiss with a gentle smile. It felt so good to be back. I looked out and noticed the sky darkening. I decided to call it a night and I slowly head towards my closet. 

"Hey.. Max?" I asked. He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Yes love?" he mumbles into my ear. "Will you hold me close tonight? I'm scared.." I say as I pull out a pair of black pajama shorts, a tank top,and a grey flowy crop-top.. I unwrapped your arms from around me as I slowly got changed.

"Of course I will love.. I will protect you.. always.." he mumbles and hops into his side of the bed. And as usual with his shirt off. I finish getting dressed and I hop in beside him. As usual he wraps his arms around me and I bury my face into his bare chest. He slowly caresses my hair. And I slowly fall asleep in his arms.

I begin to close my eyes until I hear the door open and I jerk awake with a still sleeping Katherine. It was Soren. I hold Katherine closer and start rubbing her back.. "hello... what do you want?" i mumble to Soren not wanting to wake Kath.
