Acidalia POV

She tried not to gag as her long hazelnut hair got into her mouth with her porridge. Breakfast was served, plain porridge as usual. Ever since Coin had shown her true colours, rations had been harsh. Acidalia's usually full face was drawn back stretching over her cheekbones, painfully thin.

Her older sister had been annoying her for months that her hair was getting too long. Alia like it like this! She had been growing it out for all 15 years of her life. Endreasta, her older sister always complained that it got in the way of the daily training, but she never mentioned how they were both as skinny as match sticks.

They both knew it wouldn't get better.

She twisted the ring on her middle finger in annoyance. It had become a habit of hers. The ring had been given to her from her father, before he died in the war against Snow. If only he'd stayed safe at home, knowing now that his attempts at a rebellion had been futile.

"Come on. Breakfast is over. We're training."

"Let me go change, I'll be right back." A terse nod is all Alia gets from her older sister.

Acidalia went to go change upstairs into her usual training outfit, white shirt and camouflage crgo pants. She ran back downstairs to her sister, just to discover that she had already changed into her training outfit.

"Come on. We're laying game traps today. We need fresh meat."

She quickly nodded and go get the snare wire. The woods outside Compound 4 had plenty of game, unfortunately many people did not think of it as a source of food. Only my best friend Echo had had the same idea as me.

"Hurry up! We're meeting Echo and Taylor at the old logging field."

Acidalia ran back to Endrea, almost slammed into her, tripped and fell on her face going down the front porch and almost got ran over by a capitol car.

She had a knack for getting injuries.

The two sisters quickly walked to the woods and hopped over the fence. The trap wires were strung over Alia's shoulder, and her hands were itching to twiddle with them. Alia was severely ADHD, and her favourite thing to do was definitely make traps.

They finally reached the old logging field, and Alia runs to greet her best friend. They hug, the trapping wire pressing uncomfortably against their skin.

Taylor squealed with delight. Last time they had managed to see each other, it had been two months ago. But the matching scars on the hands of the two best friends bonded each other for life.

They had finally got the courage to engrave it with Echo's pocketknife three years earlier, and never regretted it. It had hurt like hell, but they were happy. Acidalia's wouldn't stop bleeding, and several scoldings from her sister later, it had finally crusted over.

"Come on! Move out." Endrea calls.

Endreasta spread the wire equally in between all of us, and the team all pick a direction to start setting traps.
