Just Bare With Me.

It was hot. The water elijah sank into that night. Bath water, it was. Boiling hot. He just needed to get away from his sister, and brothers, just for a little while. Then there was a knock at his bathroom door. He sighed. He just knew it was one his siblings coming to bother him, yet again. "Enter." He moaned. Surprisingly enough, it was Jenna who stuck her head though the door. "Can I come in?" She asked. "Of course." He answered. If it was anyone he wanted to see right now, it was her. She came in, closing the door behind her. Before walking over to him, she grabbed a hair brush, that was on the sink, and a stool, that was near by. She set the stool down at the head of the tub, where Elijah's long hair hung over the edges. Then, she began to comb though his hair. He laid back and let her do it. He never admit it to her, but he highly enjoyed the feeling of her fingers running though his head, they always had a softness to them. They set in a comfortable silence for a while, it was Jenna who broke it. "Your fiancé is on her way here, to the castle." She told. His eyes shot open when she said this. "What?!" He asked turning around to face her. "The telegram came in today. In it, she said she was on her way, she was gone before I could send one back." She told him. Elijah didn't hate his fiancé, he just didn't like being around her. For one: they were only together for financial reasons. Sure, he had money and she had money separately, but together they were beyond rich. And if something happened to him, he wanted his family to be taken care of. And two: she was......well, pure evil. Okay, maybe not all evil, but she spoil to the bone. And she looked down upon others who weren't in the same class as her, which elijah found disgusting. "She can't be here. Not with the oni in the castle." He said. "Don't worry." She said, turning him back around so she could finish running her fingers though his hair. "I'll take care of it. I will make sure that she stays busy. I'll take her down to the village to shop. I'll bring her food to her room so she won't have to come downstairs. I will cater to her every need if I have too. She won't be here long, I will make sure she's safe. she'll stay out of your way." She told him. He sighed deeply. "I don't know what I would do without you Jenna." He said turning his head up to look at her. "You'd probably be as madden as Kol." She told him. He laugh as he felt himself relax again. "Niklaus is getting married." She told him suddenly. "Oh, c'mon." He said as he was unrelaxed yet again. - back downstairs Caroline was pacing back and forth. "Okay, okay. Just calm down a little bit. Tell me why you would think of something like that?" Selena asked. "....okay. he said, and I quote, 'I'll love you to the moon and back.' ." Caroline told her. "........yeah, he plotted and schemed to kill her mother and dragged her fragile body into the night." Selena said dramatically and sarcastically. "Selena!" Caroline said. "What Caroline? Look, I believe that klaus is a evil, nasty, no-good, good for nothing, son of a-" "Selena!" Caroline said cutting her off. ".....monster. but just because he said something, that he had no idea meant something, doesn't mean he is the reason for your mother's death." She finished. "But it did mean something." Caroline said sitting down on the bed. "I was young, really young. Maybe, I Dont know, 7? 8?. And I was folding laundry... and she was there. My mother." She drifted into the thought. It was a nice afternoon. Caroline and her mother was supposed to be doing the laundry but they were slacking, her mother had started dressing her up like a little doll with the clothing. "Spin around for me, care!" Her mother said laughing at the image her daughter made. "Do you like this look, darling?" An 8 year old Caroline said, standing in a old dress that used to belong to her mum. "Oh, I don't like it, I love it lady Caroline." She told her, playing alone. "No, no. Not 'lady' but 'princess'." Caroline said. "Liz." Her father said coming in. "What bill?" She said fixing Caroline hair. "You're suppose to do the folding." He told her. "I am." She answered without looking up. "You're playing 'dressing with that little girl." He said. "That little girl is your daughter, Dont raise your voice in front of her." She said looking him straight in the eyes. "Is she? Cause she looks a hell of a lot like that mason Lockwood fellow.." he said. "Who is mason Lockwood?" Caroline asked while play with a rag-doll. "No one, hon." Liz said ignoring her husband. "Oh. How do I look, father?" Caroline said standing up and twirling around in her dress. "That thing is old Caroline, take it off." He said walking off. "Dont feel bad sweetheart, daddy doesn't really like showing his affection, that's why your mum has to get it from other places." She said that last part under her breath. Young Caroline turned around to her mother. "So, I will just love you enough for the both of us. Come here!" Liz said running to pick her daughter up her arms. "How much will you love me, mother?" Caroline asked thought her laughs. She's been asking this question since as long as she could remember, and she always knew the answer. "I'll love you to the moon and back!" She told her as she swung her around and around. "That's why it means something. Because she said it all the time to you." Selena said. Caroline nodded. "She always said it to her children, even my two older brothers, who died in the war, the whole village knew she said it. It was her thing, you know." She said. Selena sat next to her on the bed now. "She walked out the door after that. Father demanded her to go down to the farm, to get milk or something, she walked out..... and never came back." Caroline finished. "Hey, um, I'm sorry care. I didn't know it was that bad. If I did, I wouldn't have sai-" Caroline stopped her by giving her a hug. "Thank you for listening to me." She told her. "Do you want me to kill him? I'll probably die trying but I will try for you!" Selena asked. She laugh "no, I don't want you to. Just keep me away from him, till we figure out how to get out of here." Caroline said. "Till we get out of here?" Selena asked. "Mm-hmm. I can't stay here if he really did kill her.....you will come with me, right?" Caroline asked. Selena started thinking about harry, and everything that had happened with him tonight. She didn't want to leave. "......yeah. of course I will." Selena said. - klaus was asleep in his bed when a smell woke him up. He opened his eyes slowly, then a voice came about. "Niklaus! Niklaus!" The voice said. It was Harry's. He sat up to see flames and smoke raising up from under his door. "Niklaus! The castle's on fire! Get up! Nik!" He yelled from outside. Klaus jumped up out of bed and, without his shirt, ran to the door. When he snatched the door opened he found.......harry standing there. Laughing. "...what the hell's going on?" Klaus asked very confused. "Harry finally learned a spell." Bonnie said, coming from around the corner. "You little bastard." Niklaus said. "Sorry nik, I had too!" Harry said though his laughs. "You woke me up with flames! You idiot!" Nik yelled. "Oh, come now! Its 7:30am, it's time to wake up anyway." Harry said in his defense. Then he seen the look nik gave him, he stopped laughing slowly and turned to run but bumped into bonnie. "What are you doing? You can't just use magic when ever you feel like you want to use it." Bonnie told him. "Well, why not?" Harry asked. "Um, because you will go crazy." She said in a matter-of-fact kind of way. "You mean I've waited this long to get magic, and when I finally got it, I can't use it?" Harry asked. "First of all, magic is element of earth. You can't 'get magic', it has to come naturally to a being, it has to come when it's ready. Second of all, it didn't come naturally to you, you killed someone to speed up the progress. So it's already off balance, and we Dont want off balance magic, because that's when bad things start to happen." Bonnie told him. "I know, I know. Hail, tornadoes, storms and all that." Harry said. "Yes. So no more playing around with that, got it?" Bonnie asked. "Yes, captain bonnie." Harry said. "Good, now go find your future wife." She told him as he ran off, with a smile, just to do so. She walked into nik's room. "So, the last Mikaelson finally got his magic, eh?" Klaus said as he was tying up his boots. "Yes he did, and I'm proud of him. And who knows, he might not be the last Mikaelson..." she hinted. "You know us vampires can't procreate." He said. "Dont worry, I'm working on it." She told him. "For who? For all the vampires in the world or...for you and Damon?" He asked with a smile. "Goodbye nik." She said walking out but then she turned around and asked "a little bird told me that you now have a fiancée" "get out." He told her. - the note, Caroline gave her, told her to wait at the end of the garden, by the little river that ran down there. This was actually, Selena realized, the place where she first met Louis and zayn. Zayn, the one who told her to meet him down here, the one who gave her the note, had just appeared. She stood up from where she sat on a nearby rock. "You came." He said. "Of course. In your note you said you were leaving but you had to talk to me first. And before you say anything, tell me this, when you said that you were leaving, you didn't mean....?" She asked. "What? Oh. Oh! No! I'm not suicidal!" He told her. "Oh! Okay, good. Because when you said leaving and I thought you meant leaving, leaving." She told him laughing. "No, I have good brothers that would keep me from the edges of windows and buildings, so you Dont have to worry about that." He said with a smile. "So, why did you want to drag me all the way out here for?" She asked sitting back down. "Um well, we're leaving, me and my brothers, today. But I have this thing where if something is really bothering me I have to say something about it." He said to her. "...come sit down next to me" she told him, which he did. "Now, tell me what's bothering you." She said. He took a deep breath, looked up her and said. "You." "Me?" She asked. "What about me?" She was expecting to hear things like he didn't want to be around her because she came from rags, not riches. But instead "I think you're wonderful." "....what?" She asked. "You have a wonderful personality, you stand up for what you think is right, you're beautiful!" He told her. And for whatever reason, she started to blush. "You're brilliant.." he said. She looked down at the ground. "Where did that come from?" She asked. "It's always been there." He said. "Look, I don't want to put you in a uncomfortable place, you know with harry and all, but I just had to tell you that." He told her. "I Dont know what to say..." she said. "You Dont have too. I just needed you to know that." He stood up. "You're going to make one of the most inspiring princess's in the whole world. Whether it's to harry..... or me.." just then they turned to see harry himself. "There you are Selena. Hey zayn!" He said to them. "Something wrong...?" He asked, seeing how uncomfortable they looked now. "No, no. I was just going. Um, I'll see you both for my departure, yes?" Zayn said walking off. "Okay, see ya." Harry said to him as he disappeared back into the garden. "What uh... what was about?" Harry asked sitting down next to Selena now. "Oh, nothing. He just wanted to talk." She said. "About what? Is he okay?" He asked concerned about his friend. "No, he just wanted to talk about... Louis." She told him. Then she remembered that Elena said vampires knew when humans were lying, and she hoped that he couldn't tell. That she covered it up enough. "Oh man, I hope he's alright." He looking back in the direction that zayn just walked. She did it. "Look, I wanted to show you something." He said turning back to her. "And what is that?" She asked. "Close your eyes." He told her. She put her hands over eyes and waited. "No peeking." He said. She started to feel a little change in the air. Just a little. Like a breeze mixed with heat. "Okay. Opened them." He said. And when she did, she gasped. Little droplets of water frozen in the air hung all around her. And They were beyond beautiful. "The waters from the river right there." He told her. She didn't know what to say, maybe not all things supernatural were bad, because this, this was beauty. "How did you do it?" She asked. "All of us originals are rewarded with magic at a certain age. I got my magic today. I'm not suppose to use it but I wanted to show you." He told her. She started laughing. And it was the best sound in the world to him. And even though bonnie was going to kill him for using it, he would use all the magic in the world just to hear her laugher. - "do you think he'd do something like that?" Caroline asked Elena. "I can't say. I've known Nik for a long time now, and I'm sure you know how much blood is on his hands but out of all people, your mother? What are the odds?" Elena said. They were in the library, they were both in love with books of all kinds so they were always rumbling about in the shelf's. "I Dont know what to do, I mean on one hand, I really, really like him. But on the other hand, how could I fall in love with somebody who murdered my mother in cold blood?" Caroline asked. "You know, you're asking the wrong question to the wrong person." Elena said. Caroline turned around and asked "what do you mean?" "Instead of talking to Selena and I, you need to go to klaus and asked him 'did you kill my mother?'." She told her. Just then the library doors came open. "Hi niklaus" Elena said. "Hello Elena. I was looking for you, Caroline. Have you been in here all day?" He asked. "Uh..no. I've just been, you know, .....around the castle." She said with a nervous laugh. "Yes, um.. are you okay?" He asked. "Me? Yes. Of course, I'm just going to help Elena take these books up to her room now." Caroline told him. "I can take them myself, you can stay here with nik." Elena said teasing her. "I insist. Plus I have to put some of these books in my room." Caroline said. "Aright. Do you both needs some help?" Nik asked. "No, no! We've got it." Caroline said. Then elijah appeared in the doorway. "Elena, all your bags are packed. Niklaus, Caroline, are coming to send the Salvatore's off?" He asked. "Oh, that's right I'm leaving tonight." Elena said to Caroline. "No! I need you here! Just one or two more days!" Caroline said with a whine. "She does have a fiancé to tend too, Caroline" elijah said with a laugh. "Aw I know." She said frowning. - everyone stood in the foyer, saying there goodbye's to the Salvatore's and Anna. "I'm going to miss you." Selena said. Hugging Elena. "Oh, I will miss you more! If you two ever need anything, you can come to me, got it?"Elena said to Caroline and Selena. "Do you have everything you need?" Elijah asked Anna, who was finally started to show. "Yes I do. Stefan and Damon are very excited for me to come. They even have a room for the baby when it arrives." She told him. "I heard Stefan and Damon, what about zayn?" Finn asked walking over to them. "...That's another story." She said. Selena looked over and seen that harry was busy talking to Damon so she took this opportunity to lean over and whisper into zayn's ear "write to me? When you get home? I want to know how you are, how you're doing." She told him. He turned around. "Yeah, of course" he said with a hint of a smile. "You better take care of my best mate." Niklaus said to Elena. "Always." She said. "And you better come out to visit me" Stefan said going up to hug nik. "Is everyone ready to go?" Damon yelled out. Everyone nodded and said yes. Just then there was a knock at the front door. Jenna walked over to open it. "Elijah, you have company." She said with a rolled of her eyes. He turned to the door. "Elijah! I made it!" His fiancé said walking in the house without even addressing Jenna. "Oh no." Elena said under her breath. "Oh my, she looks just like you Elena." Selena said starring at the woman that just walked in. "Of course she does, she's my twin sister." She said. "Katherine! I see you did make it here, to the castle, safe." Elijah said with a smile but it was obvious he wasn't happy to see her. "And look here, if it isn't my little sister. How are you?" Katherine asked with a smile that just spelled evil. "I'm fine Katherine. We're leaving now." She said. " 'we're'? Who's 'we're'? Let me guess, you're getting married? Because that's the word that's going around our castle." she asked. "If I was, I wouldn't tell you, nor would I invite you. Goodbye now." Elena said walking out of the door. "Well Aren't we touchy?. Jenny, take my bags upstairs." Katherine said going into the kitchen. "Did she just call me jenny?" Jenna asked as she was waving the Salvatore's and Anna off in their carriage outside the door. "Just bare with me Jenna. Just bare with me." He said with taking a deep breath. - later in the night Caroline was in the dining room, by herself, reading a book a book. "I have a feeling that you're just plain running from me now." A voice said in her ear. It was niklaus, of course, he was standing behind her chair. "Oh, nik! I didn't hear you come in, You scared me!" She said standing up now. "Oh I'm sorry, love. But I have idea though. Why Dont we have a moon-lit picnic, right now? Just us two." He asked. "I would love too, but Selena was looking for me and I have to go find her now." She made up the excuse. "But you can see her later on, I haven't seen you all day." He said taking her hands but as soon as he touched her, she flinched. And he notice this. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Nothing, really." She told him, putting on a smile. "No, you're lying to me. What's the matter?" He asked. At that moment the doors came open. "There you are! I was looking all over for you!" Selena lied and said kind of dramatically, since she didn't expect klaus to be in here with her. "Yes, I was just coming to see you. You were looking for me, right?" Caroline said, slipping from under Klaus's grip. "What? oh, Oh! Yeah I was. I need you to help me look for something in my room, can you help me?" Selena asked, again, every word sounding way too dramatic. "You. Have. Got. To be the worst liar in the entire world." Nik said to her. "No, I'm just not good under pressure." Selena said to him. "Caroline, what's going on?" Niklaus asked her. "Nothing nik." She told him. "You're still lying to me." He said. Then, she started to think about what Elena told her earlier, about asking the right person the right question. So, with all her courage, she let out a breath to quietly ask "did you murder my mother..?". "....what?" He asked. Selena backed up to the doorway, she didn't leave, she just wanted to give them some Privacy. "You heard me nik. I told you how she died a long time ago, and what I told you, that I didn't tell my friends, was that I walked out of my house and seen someone standing over her body with a red mouth. And now that i know that someone was a vampire, I have to ask you that question." She told him. "Tell me that you never seen a blond hair, blue eyed little girl emerge from a house while you were murdering somebody?" She asked with tear-filled eyes. He said nothing. "TELL ME that you didn't kill my mother?" She asked louder. He looked ground. She walked up to him. "....nik" she said in a whisper. He lifted his head up but couldn't meet her eyes. "Caroline that was a long time ago, I can't give you a straight answer..." he said quietly. With the tears finally rolling down her face, she turned and ran out the room. "Caroline, please!" He said started to run after her. But it was Selena who stopped him, before running after Caroline herself, Selena turned, without stopping, and said to him simple and angrily "Dont!.".
