October 5, 1849. Time: 12:28 am.

Finally finding the medieval looking door, unlatching it, Caroline and Harry breathe in the cool, bitter midnight air. It was late and everyone had gone to bed long ago. The streets slept. Little clouds formed in the thin air as they breathe. Harry was the first to speak. "Well, that was..... terrifying!" he snorted. Caroline couldn't help but laugh as well. They had barely escaped death and to be able to step outside was, well, odd in a sense. Odd like they had messed with fate somehow. Were they suppose to defeat the bad guys and walk out victorious? Or were they really meant to die in that room? After all, not in a million years would Caroline think that she would have to kill, not one, but two people in one night. But they didn't want to think about that now, it was too heavy. So, instead of crying about it, laugh about it. "I can't believe we got kidnapped." Caroline sighed. "I can't believe we have to walk back to the plantation!" Harry said. They were still in town, she realized, not that far from where they met the little girl with the flowers. But it had taken them two hours to get to town in their carriage, now they were going to have to walk back, in the dead of night. Caroline looked down the long road that they were going to hike and decided to take off her shoes. "What are you doing?" Harry laughed. "I refuse to take this long walk back with this heels." she told him. "Wait, maybe we won't have too." Harry said. In the distance, he could make out the shadows of a couple walking their way. "Maybe they have a carriage we could borrow for the night." Harry suggested. "And If they won't let us?" Caroline asked. "there is always compulsion." he said with a smile. They both started walking towards the couple, who's faces were still hidden in the shadows, and realized that the couple stopped walking. Suddenly, Harry stopped too. "...What's wrong?" Caroline asked him. He was listening again, like he was doing in the prison. "They're vampires." Harry whispered to her. She felt her heart drop, they had just gotten out of a situation where they could have died, they didn't need a another one so soon. "Let's just go, we can go the other way." She said, tugging on his sleeve like a child. "Wait, i want to read his thoughts." he said in a low voice. She learned a while ago that vampires could read other vampires thoughts-if that vampire let them. If they were a ancient vampire (a vampire 200 years old or more) they had the power to shield their minds from other supernatural creatures. This vampire, the one Harry tried to mind-read, was way older then that, trying to get into his mind was like running into a metal wall. No more then 100 feet away from each other, the couple stared at them. Then something happened, something that almost never happens. The old vampire opened up his mind, he opened his mind for Harry to read. And so soon as Harry read it, he knew why the vampire let him see it. "Nik!" he said with a smile. The couple moves out of the shadows to reveal the faces of Niklaus and Selena. "Selena!" Caroline exclaimed. The two girls ran to each other instantly and fell into each other's arms. "You need to learn how to keep your mind close!" Nik told Harry, as he embraced his young brother. "I thought i had it close!" he said. "At first it was, then you slipped and let it open, that's how i knew who you were and opened mine." Nik said. "Give him a break, he did use magic today." Caroline told them. "You used magic?" Selena asked. "By yourself?" Klaus asked. Harry shied away a bit. "A defense spell, and it worked." Caroline told them. "Well, look at you. I get kidnapped for a day and you use magic, such a show off." Klaus said. "What happened to your chest?" Caroline asked Nik, walking over to him. "Oh, i drove a sword into it." He said plainly. "What?" she asked. "It's a long story." he told her. He pulled her into a hug suddenly. "I'm glad you're alright." he said. They still weren't on the same terms as they were before the castle burnt down, but she felt content in his arms. Harry and Selena on the other hand, were on better terms then they were, As soon as Caroline left her side, Harry heaved Selena into a long awaited kiss. To say the least, he missed her so. "I was so worried about you." she told him with a sigh. He took a piece of her hair that was in her face and placed it behind her ear, then he noticed something. "What happened to your dress?" he asked her. It was cut down the middle and bared most of her body, the only thing that was covering it was a coat that seem to be Nik's. "The hunters happened to my dress. What happened to your side?" she asked him. On his shirt, across his rib cage, was a large blood stain. "Don't worry, it's healed up now. And the hunters happened to my side." He said, copying her earlier words. "Why did those hunters target us? I mean from what i hear, New Orleans is crawling with the supernatural." Caroline said. "Ah! we can blame Kol for that. Apparently Kol killed and raped one of the hunters wives and they thought it me." Nik told them. "Kol rap- you know what? let's let Finn and Elijah deal with him." Harry said. "Speaking of Elijah..." Selena said, looking off down the lane. Making their way down the road were what looked to be a dozen armed guards mounted on their horses and with the guards was a beautiful black horse drawn carriage with the Mikaelsons family coat of arms seal stamped on it. They stopped right in front of them, some of the guards bowed their heads to the royals. The carriage door opened and they prepared for the worst from Elijah, but it wasn't Elijah who stepped out. "Do you have any idea how much trouble you're in?" Rebekah said. "Thank goodness it's you." Harry said, walking over to her. "Yes it's me, but don't thank you're lucky stars yet, Elijah is at home expecting your arrival, and he is not "sunshine and lollipops" right now." she told them. "We are in for it, aren't we?" Selena asked. "Well, you both are not, we don't expect you to know any better, you're illogical humans. Nik and Harry on the other hand...." she said. "It can't possibly be that bad, they are adults." Caroline said. "..What happened to your dress?" Rebekah asked Selena. "Oh, a hunter cut it." she told her. "Hunters?!" Rebekah exclaimed. She looked like she was about to faint. "It's alright. We've killed them all." Nik told her. "Great! Now, Elijah is going to kill you!" She told them. "But they kidnapped us, we didn't go looking for them." Selena said. "Everything that's coming out each and every one of your mouths is just digging you deeper into the grave. Just get in the carriage!" She yelled and turned to get into it herself. The vampires helped the girls into the ride and then got in themselves. "This is going to be a long ride." Nik said. And a long ride it was. - The carriage was filled with the exchanges of story's, Nik and Selena told their experience with the hunters, Caroline and Harry told of their story, and they all told Rebekah what had happened. They arrived at the castle to be greeted by the Salvatore's, Elena, Jenna and all of the maids in the house at the front door, not to mention all of the guards running around the place. "Well, look who finally decides to show up." Stefan said as he went to greet his best friend. "I'm already dreading hearing this speech from Elijah, i don't need to hear it from you." Nik told him. "Where is he?" Harry asked. "He's in his study, best to leave him there." Damon answered. While talking to the others about their whereabouts, Selena glanced over and found Zayn starring at her. Their eyes locked immediately. They just stood there, looking at one another and being drawn in. Zayn was the one to break the moment, he looked down at the ground and walked away. Jenna, who was making her around the room to check and see if everyone was alright, came over to Selena. "You made it back in one piece." she said, as she pulled her into a hug. "Well, i did, i can't say the same for my dress." she told her. She opened the jacket that belonged to Nik, and showed that her dress was cut in two. "Oh, that's nothing. I can fix that right up." Jenna promised with a smile. But all the smiles and laughs were short lived. They all heard the sound of shoes walking down the corridor and knew it was Elijah. The maids lined up in front, as well as the guards. Elijah stepped into foyer and a silence went over the room. The Salvatore's and Elena, respectfully, stepped out of the room. Caroline, Selena and the younger Mikaelsons waited quietly for his outburst. The maids and the guards who stood before Elijah tried to hide their apprehension. But Elijah, he didn't try to hide anything, he was furious. The look in his eye said that he wanted to rip them all limb from limb for going out and getting themselves captured. And he was looking right them. He began to speak. "Thank you ladies and gentlemen for taking time out of your precious day to run around the grounds of this plantation and the grounds of this city to look for the fools that stand behind you right now." he said to the guards and maids, never taking his eyes off of his younger brothers and Selena and Caroline. Despite the insult he had just given the four adventurers, they knew better then to say some smart comment back, even if they were his brothers, he had no problem using magic on them and he was a fire user. "You all are dismissed." he told the maids and guards, who, without hesitation, ran out the room. "That includes you, too, Jenna." He told her. He knew she was soft when it came to chastisement. She left Selena's side and walked upstairs. Passing Elijah, she whispered into his ear. "Don't yell at them tonight. Despite them bringing this onto them, they have been though quite a lot this evening." she told him before exiting. The five of them stood in the foyer alone. There, starring down at them, Elijah stood,. You could smell the tension in the air. One of the things that Harry couldn't stand was fighting with his brothers, he spoke first. "Elijah, look, i know you're mad at us, bu-"
