Xbox Love: A Mother's Love

Wolf walked through the front door with a smile. She hadn't been home since the concert.

"Hello?" She called to the seemingly empty house.

"Wolf!!" Her mother cried excitedly, rushing to greet her.

"UH-hey Mom." Wolf smiled awkwardly. Her mother had never been this loving before.

"Your friend get home safe?" Her mother asked smiling warmly.

"Yep. Put him on the plane safely a few hours ago. He said he'll be back in a week or so for a visit." Wolf smiled as she thought fondly of her Andy.

"That'll be nice. Perhaps I could meet him" Her mother winked a little.

Wolf nodded and looked at the table. Then it hit her. It was quiet. Almost too quiet. "Where's Dad?" She asked twiddling her thumbs awkwardly.

"He's off visiting some friends. He'll be home in a few days." Her mother said void of emotion.

Wolf felt a sigh of relief wash over her. She could breathe easy, at least for a few days anyway.

"I'm ordering pizza for dinner. Why don't you pick a movie on Netflix or something." Her mother said hugging her slightly.

Wolf smiled happily and nodded "Sounds great."

The rest of the night, Wolf bonded with her mother like she hadn't done since she was a child. Years of silence and emptiness healed in a few short hours. Her mother apologized for the years she'd been silent, dead to the family. She apologized for not protecting her better from her father. Most importantly, she apologized for not being there for Wolf after her brother died.

At the end of the night, just as Wolf lay her down on her pillow-the phone rang. Wolf smiled and answered it quickly.

"Hello?" She answered.

"Hello, my liebchen." A deep voice replied.

"Aaaaannndddyyy!!" Wolf smiled.

"Hey love. We just got home. I'm so exhausted from traveling. But I figured I'd call to say goodnight.

"Aww- all tuckered out?"

He chuckled "Defiantly!"

"Well, Get some sleep and I'll talk to you tomorrow. After your Press Release of the new album?"

"Yes. I'll call you as soon as it's over. Sleep well, okay? It'll be hard not falling asleep with you in my arms."

"Same here." Wolf tried to smile, but she felt a sharp pain of longing for Andy. "But you get some sleep mister. You need your beauty rest for the adoring fans and all that."

"Haha, of course. Goodnight my love."

"Night, Batman."

"Night, Robin."

The next few days were peaceful. Wolf got caught up with all her studies. All throughout her day she and Andy exchanged constant text messages and phone calls. Each and every night she ate dinner and spent time with her mother. And for a brief moment, life seemed like it was going to be okay.

But things...are not always what they seem...

Wolf yawned and sat up. Saturday. Best day of the week. Andy would be visiting in a few days, even better. Excited to start the day, Wolf hurried for the door. She swung it open and her mouth fell in horror.
