ATNBB: Two
Kara
“Is this really necessary?” I asked, staring at my reflection in the mirror. I was put in a black strappy little dress that clung on to me and matching killer heels which are killing my feet (this outfit screams ‘slut’ and so not me). I’m shivering from head to toe, even though I feel as if there’s oven raging inside me. My cheeks are burning hot when I desperately need to look cool and calm. All the girls were placed in individual rooms after we got off the van; so we’d be ready for the auction. I’ve had a bad day so far and my poor common sense is rattling round my brain.
“Yes, it will attract men into bidding more money for you. The more money, the richer we get,” Ted said, writing something down on a clipboard. This dress was cutting off my oxygen – who knew a dress could be so tight? This dress came midhigh on my legs, ain’t no way in hell am I showing my legs to men especially the ones who buy girls. Ted left the room; he said he was checking on the other ladies – making sure they were ready.
What kind of place is this? Isn’t this illegal?
I found out the first man’s name; Ted. He doesn’t look like one - more like a Bob. I started fixing my hair, when I caught Jack’s expression through the reflection; lust. He smirked at me; I spun around to notice him eyeing me up and down. I marched right in front of him and snapped my fingers in his face. “Hey mister, my eyes are on my face not on my chest.” I said with authority, I don’t take crap from anyone – well apart from Deb and Daniel. Despite the fact I had just told him off, he takes a strand of my hair, twirls around his finger, he pulls me until we were chest to chest and his hand grips my hip in place. So uncomfortable now. He sniffs my hair – EW! Creep.
“You’re a feisty one, aren’t you? Be a good girl tonight – wouldn’t want you scaring all the men away, would we?” he murmured in my ear, his hot, foetid breath washed over me, causing me to nearly gag.
I shut my eyes not wanting to see his wicked smile, I felt him move away from me; I waited for a while, so he would leave. I hear the door close, I sneak a quick look with one eye open to check if he was still around but he left. I had to get out of here but how?
“Time to go, Keera,” Ted said, entering the room – indicating for me to leave. “It’s Kara.” I corrected him.
“Whatever, let’s go.” I followed him out the door – we walked down the corridor until we reached the door, which led to a room where all the girls were in a line – this must lead to the stage. Everyone in the room stopped but I knew - I was the centre of attention – everyone started murmuring while glancing at me. I strolled over to Cassie who happens to be the only person not whispering about me. I nudged her, “Why’s everyone talking quietly?” I whispered, noticing some of the girls glaring at me.
“Because you look hot,” She winked. “And Ted told everyone, that he placed you in a dress – in hope he and Jack get loaded.” She said. I glanced at my outfit then at everyone else – why am I so unlucky in situations? All the girls were dressed in navy blue loose dresses.
