A Sad Reflection
Strolling on an autumn trail,
scuffling shoes in the discards of fall's fashions,
breathing in the crisp unsullied scent of growth
and musing about the beauty of the silence.
No unsettling horns or sirens,
no loud blasts of car stereos or diesel engines.
Just an occasional chitter of a squirrel or squawk of a Jay,
a rill gently winding through roots and fallen twigs,
sparkling as it passes a spot unshaded by forest trees.
Alone and able to absorb all that nature provides each day
and wonder with dismay
what right we have to waste this uncluttered Eden
......we don't
