My phone kept ringing over and over again for the last hour yet I couldn't bring myself to answer it. I kept looking at it as if it was a ticking time bomb. You know the feeling when you are scared of answering because you just know deep down that this call would just confirm the doom that you were walking into. Well that was what I was feeling. I was scared of what was going to happen next.
So I did the only thing I could do I hid in my bedroom not answering just hoping that my problem would just disappear all by itself but then I remembered his eyes when we shook our hands confirming my belief that this was not something that would just vanish into thin air because legally we were both bound by that damn contract!
Ugh!!!
Why is it that no matter how careful I am I always seem to bite more than I can chew! This time it looks like I bit the whole dish!
But maybe, just maybe, he'll leave me alone I mean he doesn't even know where I live or work! Thank God I work at home. So... just maybe things won't be that bad after all. I gave myself a pep talk and come on, worst case scenario; what would he do? Sell me into sex slavery? Nah! He didn't look like a creep or a pervert if any he looked so sophisticated, confident, eloquent but his eyes... they just seemed... filled with secrecy and danger.
Ugh!!! My head is just spinning.
By now I realized my door bell had been ringing which made my heart jump to my throat. No! It can't be! Can it? I stood frozen at my spot I couldn't move even if I wanted to.
But whoever it was wasn't taking no for an answer for they kept ringing nonstop and soon when I still didn't answer; my door started to get banged repeatedly and vaguely I could hear my friend Jessica's voice which snapped me out of my trance.
Opening the door slowly still not sure if she was alone.
The minute I just opened the lock she pushed it hard.
"OMG! ARE YOU OK? SHOULD WE GO TO THE HOSPITAL" She shouted with fear all over her face and touching my face and arms checking me.
"Easy, easy calm down, I am fine don't shout" I looked outside my apartment making sure none of my neighbors heard her outburst. It seemed she was slowly coming to grips that I was actually fine and in one piece and by now anger was replacing the worry that was previously on her face.
"I have been calling you for hours yet no answer from you not even a damn text. You scared me to death, I was certain you had another episode of asthema and couldn't reach your inhaler or something hell by the time I came here I thought I would find you passed out like that night" by now she was worried again and a few tears had slipped her eyes.
"Hey, shhh..." I hugged her "That was a stupid mistake and it won't happen again ok?" I made sure she understood that it wasn't her fault but it seems she never forgave herself for that night. We need to have a talk because she has to forgive herself but today was not the day for I myself was not in the mood to console anyone.
"Why didn't you answer your phone?" She asked me skeptically after she had regained her composure.
Oh sh*t should I tell her? ... Just imagining the tantrum she would throw made me reconsider my decision to tell her.
"I was working and listening to music so sorry" I lied sheepishly and looks like she bought it.
"Please don't scare me like that ever again" she pulled me in a hug.
"I promise I won't" but somehow I had a feeling I was soon going to be face to face with her fury. But for now let me just cross my fingers and hope for the best.
