"Let's sleep sweetheart, we are both tired and I have an early morning meeting"

With that he pulled me in his arms and both of us slept exhaustedly.

Theodore Pov

"You up to it?" I asked Sophia who had been very quiet all morning.

"Sure" she replied as she was putting her shoes on. After a very silent drive we arrived at the clinic and she was immediately shown to another room where many other tests were done. I kept waiting for her as I had cancelled all my appointments for the day.

"Theo, please can we leave I am very tired" A very pale Sophia begged as she entered the room.

"Sure, just let me have a quick word with the doctor" I replied to which she nodded.

"Fine, I'll be waiting for you in the car, if you don't mind?" She asked hopefully. I could see the exhaustion written all over her face.

"Sure, I'll be back in a few minutes" I assured her and watched her leave the office.

Sophia Pov

It's been three days since our last and final appointment much to Theo's disapproval but a promise is a promise and our deal was I'd just humor him and go one more time. I don't want anything else with that whole experience anymore. All it did to me was make me sad and keep reminding me of what I'd lost due to a sick fantasy of some rich boys.

After a long talk he finally gave in and from now on no more fertility doctors appointments. Come to think of it, it's what ruined my somewhat beautiful relationship with Theo in the first place. He sulks more and is always in a bad mood. You would actually think that he was my husband and I am denying him his right of fathering children by refusing to go anymore!

I hate my life.

Ugh!

Theodore Pov

Entering the house just before dinner to make sure to keep somewhat of a normal façade. I still cannot believe that she doesn't want to carry on with the treatments that would help her mother a child of her own flesh and blood! But I guess she is not ready for such a step at this point in her life.

"You are late" she accused jokingly but I could see how much everything was hurting her. All that happened these couple of days had taken a toll on her. Our relationship had lost it's light humours touch instead there was a very heavy feeling, all of which resulted after the night she lost control and lashed out on me.

"Work as usuall" I supplied with a polite smile because try as I much wanted I couldn't get pass the fact that she just gave up on ever having children of her own.

My phone rang yet I didn't answer it just seeing the screen I knew it was Chase but I could sense Sophia getting uncomfortable.

"Aren't you going to answer that?" She asked anxiously I just shook my head and continued eating.

"Maybe it's something important" she insisted.

"Maybe" I agreed casually while sipping my coffee.

It kept ringing and I simply switched it off, to which her eyes flew to mine in question and I knew I was planting seeds of doubt for no reason but I just couldn't help myself.

Suddenly I stood leaving half of my breakfast.

"I'll be in my office if you need anything just call me ok?" I told her as I put on my coat but I could see how much my actions were hurting her and I had to get out of there before I did something we'd both regret. I was still not ready to put it behind us and she was not ready to delve in it again. So as much as I miss "us" space is the best thing that can help us right now.

Sophia Pov

I knew I had no right to feel this way but I couldn't help it. I was missing everything that we did together even the subtle gestures or teases. And this was really making me sad and depressed more than I usually am.
Doubts... were filling me and eating me alive. I kept on thinking of ways to win him back-- I meant to say to win our relaxed relationship back. I mean after all I know he is wayyyy out of my league.

"Theo!"

"Theo!"

Waking up from another nightmare panting and sweating I kept calling his name loudly, but still he was no where near me.

"THEO'' I screamed his name as loud as I could soon he came running to my side hugging me tightly and rubbing soothing circles on my back. I had just started to calm down when I heard someone speak behind us.

"Now I know what's keeping you busy these past few months" A feminine voice wondered aloud.

Theo tensed beside me while his embrace became stronger.

"I don't remember giving you permission to roam around my house. Get the fuck out" he ordered furiously. Now it was my turn to rub soothing circles on his back which relaxed him a bit but not much.

But who the hell was she? And what was she doing at this late hour in our house?

"ok, ok I'm out, seriously your hands are already filled with your broken girlfriend" she taunted

"OUT" He was losing his cool

she smiled smugly and bowed dramatically as she left us alone.

Yet her words were to stay with me forever...

It's True I am broken she didn't lie at all, who was I kidding!

"Don't overthink her purposefully hurtful words" he told me softly as he was watching my thoughts plastered all over my face.

"She didn't lie..." I lowered my eyes as I whispered the words.

"Hey" he lifted my face with two fingers.

"Never bow down to a bully. I know her type. She'll live all her life bullying and trying to ruin anybody's life. She thrives on such power but in reality she just envies everyone else. She is the broken one not you.
Never you" he kissed each eye then kept looking at me for a long moment making sure his words sunk in deep. Tears started to form in them but he silently shook his head giving me the strength to inhale deeply and push those tears away.

"Now isn't that better?" He smiled kindly and I smiled back

"Yes it is, just make sure that snake never comes near me again" I threatened in a firm voice to which his eyes sparkled wickedly.

"Oh I am sure I can keep that snake away from you but can't promise about another snake wanting you badly" he promised darkly as his hands started to roam over my body. Teasing the skin of my arms allowing goosebumps to appear all over...

Squinting my eyes at him and then the innuendo hit me.
I hit him on his chest playfully

"Keep all snakes away from me" I ordered in a fake angry voice. He just laughed wholeheartedly.

"Sure, sure if you say so" he said between fits of laughter.

I smiled at his beautifully lit face.
Finally somewhat of a normalcy between us...
