A few reasons actually, one being that he loved Johnny more than anyone or anything and all he wanted was to keep him out of trouble... Keep him safe and happy...I almost think of Johnny was Dally's sunset. His everything...and he had to sit there and wat him die at age 16, he couldn't do anything to help him, he just had to sit there and watch his sunset fade away...what would you have done? Who. Could live with that? No matter how tough you are or how tough you think you are, we all have that one thing... And if you loose it...Dallas Winston died with Johnny Cade in that hospital bed and you can't tell me different.
