Pan's P.O.V
It was late. Most of the Lost Boys were asleep in their tents, the only other person awake besides myself and Antoinette was Felix, who never slept. I walked over to Antoinette and saw she was silently crying. "Antoinette, why are you crying?" I said gently. She looked over at me with disgust. "Why are you even talking to me? Just two hours ago you were trying to manipulate me." "Well I saw you were crying and I was... concerned." I replied. "You? Concerned about me? Yeah right." She scoffed. I flicked my wrist and her ropes came off. "Wait, you- you're untying me? Why?" "Because you'll never listen to me if I don't gain your trust. There's something you need to know, but you're not ready to accept it." I told her.
"What could you possibly know about me?" she asked. "Oh love, I know more than you think." I replied. She walked over to a log and sat down to think. "I never really did feel like I fit in. I always felt different and unwanted." she sighed. "I feel like I don't belong and that I was a mistake." She looked up at me with a look that said she just wanted to be accepted. A single tear fell from her cheek and she said, "I'm a failure." I looked at her and said nothing, but my mind was screaming for me to walk over there and hug her and tell her everything would be alright. I knew that feeling well. For once I had experienced those same thoughts. But someone told me I would one day amount to more than what everyone said I would. Antoinette needed to know what I knew when I was feeling like a failure years ago.
"Antoinette, why don't you go to sleep, it's late and you could use it. There's an empty hut over there for you to sleep in. We can talk more in the morning." I told her. "Yeah, I think I will. I'm really tired and I could use sleep." "Antoinette?" I called out to her. "Yes?" she said back. "Here's one last thought to sleep on. Whenever I was feeling sad or down, my father always told me to think lovely thoughts." I said with a smile. "Hmm, maybe I'll try that. Goodnight Pan" she said. "Goodnight Antoinette."
Antoinette's P.O.V
I wiped away the tears sliding down my face and silently walked over to the hut Pan pointed out to me. When I walked in, I noticed two things right off. First, there was a fresh pair of clothes lying on the bed waiting for me. I walked around the hut and saw that it was small, but cozy. There was a small bed on which to sleep. A table with a lantern was right next to the bed that also had a pitcher of water. There was a chair and a desk with a few books stacked on top of it. There was a separate small room off to the side, which I took to be the bathroom. I walked inside and found a wooden tub full of hot water. Aching to leap inside and clean myself from all this grime and grit, I quickly undressed and stepped into the warm bath and cleansed myself. After I got out of the bath, I walked over to my bed and changed into my clean clothes, which was a floral nightgown and long johns. They fit perfectly. "Wow" I thought to myself. "A pair of clothes, a hot bath and a place to sleep. Pan really wants me to feel special." I crawled into bed and laid my head down on the soft pillow. I closed my eyes and thought about how all my life, people told me I would amount to nothing and then I thought about what Pan had told me just now and I smiled to myself. I rolled over and told myself to think happy thoughts. Within minutes, I was asleep. For the first time in almost a year, I slept peacefully through the night.
