Chapter 10

I looked at everyone, they all shrugged. Unsure of what to say. Silently we all made our way in the direction that Robert and Jeremy had went in. We found them stood just beyond the blow up castle bickering like school kids.

"You know how much I like her Renner. I've not looked at another woman since me and Susan finalised our divorce!"

"I know, I know. I'm sorry. You know how I get sometimes. It's not as if my feelings for her are as strong as yours."

I just stood there. My mouth open in shock. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Scarlett nudge Chrissy H. He stepped forward, crossed his arms and cleared his throat whilst Mark wandered off to the front desk. "Now my friends, on Asgard we had certain ways of settling these quarrels." Everyone stared at him in disbelief as the character of Thor shone through him.

Mark returned with two huge polystyrene swords. He handed them to 'Thor'. He turned back towards the two men after nodding his thanks to Mark. "Now, in order to win the hand of this fair maiden. You must duel to the death. Come forth and collect your weapons."

Robert and Jeremy did as they were told. "Face each other. And BEGIN."

They brandished their swords above their heads and charged at each other. The swatted a few times. Pushing and shoving. Until eventually Robert got the upper hand and knocked Jeremy to the ground. "Do you yield?" Jeremy smiled, offered his hand to Robert. He helped him to his feet as they embraced each other.

"Of course I yield. I shouldn't have let it get this far, forgive me?" Robert nodded, patting Jeremy on the back. They both walked over to me, my mouth was still open and I was unsure if everything I had just witnessed was real.

Jeremy took my hand and kissed it. He then placed it palm down into Roberts. "Be good to her. Or you'll have me to answer to." I laughed, it was a nervous laugh but a laugh all the same.

Scarlett placed her hand on his shoulder, "come on monkey, lets go get coffee." They headed off to the small cafe with the rest of the boys in tow. Including 'Thor'.

"What was all that about?" I questioned. My eyebrows furrowed in frustration.

"I'm sorry. I should have told you sooner. But I like you Alice. I like you a lot actually."

I went To say something but he held his finger to my lips, "just listen. Okay?" I nodded. "I know I'm a lot older than you but I find that we have such a connection with each other. You don't mind when Im sarcastic. I don't mind when you try to demonstrate osmosis on my car. I didn't even feel this way with Susan. Please, just think about it."

My eyes softened as I realised he was serious. His big brown eyes looked so sad. I couldn't help but place my hand on his cheek and gently kiss his lips. "Think about what?" I asked as if I didn't already know.

"Oh come on! Do I have to spell it out for you?" He looked desperate. "Yes actually!!!" I placed my hands on my hips. "Fine. Stubborn ass, B E M I N E."

My stomach lurched. My breath catching in my throat. "Y...yes!" His eyes grew wide and his smirk was back. He picked me up and span me round, "you'll not regret this." He said whilst setting me back on to my feet and kissing my head softly.

"Shall we go find the others?" He placed his arm around my shoulder. I snaked mine around his back, gently grabbing onto his waist. "What about Jeremy? Won't he be uoset?" Robert looked down at me. "Alice, you can't go around worrying how people will feel when it comes to your own happiness. I'm sure he will be fine. If not, we will just have to set him up with someone." He wriggled his eyebrows. "Got any girlfriends?"

I slapped him playfully. We made our way to the cafe. Robert broke the news to everyone. And rather than being met with a lot of hostility, as I thought we would have. We were actually met with cat calls and congratulations and even a 'when is the wedding?' From Tom.

Jeremy looked up from his coffee. Smiled at us and just simply said, "took you both long enough. God!"
