Day Two.
Let's see if I can get through the day without embarrassing or injuring myself.
After having a safe day so far, I make my way to geography. A lesson that is just as boring as the rest. The only thing that made the lesson fun was Mr Johnson. He had a good sense of humour and everyone also liked him because he let us leave five minutes early.
"Welcome back Lucy" he says greeting me outside the door.
"Hello sir, sorry I missed my first lesson yesterday, I -"
"Oh don't worry; I was informed on where you were. I hope you're better now though. I don't know first aid so if you need the kiss of life, I'll have to choose one of your classmates" he laughs and I shudder at the thought of Adam kissing me. Then again, it will be very unlikely that my ex would willingly volunteer to save my life.
"You'll be sitting right next to..." Mr Johnson began, holding a sheet of paper of a dreaded seating plan, moving his finger ever so slowly across each row, searching for my name.
"Lucas"
I sigh and head into the classroom where Lucas is sitting, watching the rain fall hard against the window.
Last year Lucas was in all of my lessons, and because of the teachers having a strange obsession with putting me next to him, we had to get to know each other to prevent the whole year from being awkward. My only problem was that I was unaware of his undying love for me, until he sent me a note in my locker, explaining how much I meant to him. It has kind of been awkward ever since because when something like that happens in school, it spreads like a forest fire, making Lucas change all of his lessons.
I take my seat and almost expect him to start talking to me, however he just sits watching people rushing outside, trying to get to the lessons without looking like they went for a swim in the river during break.
Soon enough, class started once the room was filled with bored teenagers.
"Ok so today's lesson is all about..." Mr Johnson starts but I instantly don't have the energy to listen to him.
Instead my gaze falls to the large window pane beside me. The way the rain fell was so beautiful. Each drop almost competing with each other to reach the bottom.
I could feel someone staring at me. I turn my attention back to the front to see Mr Johnson is too busy ranting about rocks to even care about what I'm doing.
As I turn back to the window, I see Lucas staring right back at me. His thick rimmed glasses magnifying his eyes slightly.
"Did I miss much last lesson?" I say, trying to defuse the awkward staring competition we had accidently started. But he didn't reply, he just sat frozen, like I was Medusa and I'd turned him to stone.
"I'll take that as a no then" I say to myself before turning my attention back to the front. I hear whispers and someone trying to hold in their laugh, as I turn around I see Adam.
This is going to be a very long year.
-
I was so happy to get out of geography. I honestly don't think I can cope with Lucas staring at me for a full year and being Adam's entertainment.
I make my way to my locker where Sascha is already stood outside, looking at her phone and smiling like a Cheshire cat.
"What's got you all cheesy?" I ask.
She locks at her phone, putting it straight in her pocket.
"Nothing" she replies, trying to act casual.
"Come on Sash, just tell me why you're so happy. It might make my day better" I pout.
"Ok, I may or may not have just been made to sit next to my crush!" she squeals, making passers-by give her a funny look.
"Well at least one of us is lucky; I have to sit next to Lucas"
Sascha's expression instantly changes and she lets out a groan.
"Does he still fancy you?" she smirks and I lash out.
"Please don't start this again; I had enough of it last year"
"Ok I'll stop" she says, putting her hands up in mock surrender.
"Come on, I know the perfect place to go that will cheer you up" she says grinning.
-
If there was anyone who could use their ability to be a stalker and not creep the other person out, it was Sascha.
The 'perfect place' that she has chosen is sitting under a large tree, situated near the football field. At first I wondered why we needed to sit so close to the field but then I remembered that Issacc plays for the school.
Sash had never stopped talking about him since her maths lesson.
"Trust you to choose a place to eat, just so you can stare at Mr Perfect" I moan on, but she is in too much of a day dream to care. While she was having the time of her life, I was just finding it awkward.
"He keeps looking over" I say, fidgeting in my place as I see Issacc and Ben stood together talking and looking over in our direction. I try to hide behind the tree a little so they can't see me and then their attention would be on just Sascha, but I fail miserably as I'm sat directly in their eye line with nowhere to escape.
"Enjoy the attention, the way you're going, you probably won't be seeing any for a while" she snorts, making both Issacc and Ben look over and start laughing.
"Jeez, you're embarrassing" I sigh and look down. I could feel their gaze burning into me the entire time; I thought they were supposed to be practicing.
I whistle blows from the direction of the field and their coach's roaring tone could be heard loud and clear. Anyone who wanted to mess with him was certainly looking for a death wish. I've never seen him before, so he must be a new teacher. He's short but well built and has a very shiny bald head; to be honest I'm not surprised he's bald with all the stress he's gone through over the years of training teenage boys.
"Boys what are you doing? Get back to practice" His eyes follow the direction the boys were gazing at and his eyes land on poor innocent me.
"Sascha, what do we do? He looks really mad, if I die I'm blaming you" I start to ramble on.
"Shut up and live a little" she laughs, waving at their coach which only angers him more.
"Girls! Leave now, you're disturbing my boys from their valuable practice" He yells over, causing me to cringe as all the other boys stop playing to see some quality entertainment.
If I don't leave now, I mays well hand out popcorn to them all and tell them to enjoy the show.
Sascha reluctantly stands up, gathers her things, sighing loudly, before strutting off in the direction of school.
Being at sixth form was hard work, but keeping up with Sascha was an even harder job to muster.
One thing I know from our eventful lunch was that Ben had joined the football team, making him instantly popular and leaving me with no chance on earth of getting to talk to him again.
