Bakura only cared about a few things:
-his knife collection
-his tea
-perhaps a good book
-Cannibal HolocaustAnd though he hated to admit it;
-Marik IshtarEven if he was a conceited little wanker.
And different species. He clung to his hand. He vaguely remembered the accidental kiss they shared in the same day. He hadn't even known him, not really. He had just heard his voice not even an hour ago. Now he was going to lose him, forever.
Melvin raised the rod. "It's too bad that you'll die before you could actually have a proper fanfiction."
Excuse me, what?
"Bakura didn't sing ONCE."
*sudden realization* HE HASN'T, HASN'T HE!?
"Hello? Why aren't you using your author powers and SAVING US!?" Bakura spat.
Ishizu? Back me up.
Ishizu: because shut up."HUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGZZZZZZ!!!!!" Melvin was ready to strike.
However, he didn't see Ryou creep up behind him. He latched onto his back, and poked his hair spikes. Melvin's hair fell flat, and he gasped. Then, he lay flat on his face in the sand. He didn't budge. He just lay on the ground, face first, with straight, flat hair.
"Is he...........?" Marik didn't even know what just happened. ".......dead?"
Bakura stood up, and slowly approached the twitching Melvin. He gave him a nudge on the side with his foot, but there was no reaction. He was obviously still breathing, but he was just...laying there."Ryou........what did you-"
Ryou didn't answer. Instead, he put on a floaty over his head and around his waist and tossed Marik the rod. Then he dragged Melvin away. No one really knew where.
Bakura and Marik watched in shock. Marik looked at the rod in his hand, and on realization that he couldn't control the waves, the water came tumbling down on them. Marik saw Ishizu and Odion, who must've escaped Melvin's lair, swimming toward him.
"Ishizu! Take the rod!"
He let go of it and hoped Ishizu would find a way to get it back from the rushing water that filled the ocean.
Now Marik needed to find Fluffy.Marik fought the pressure and force of the waves and swam toward Bakura, who seemed water logged.
He pulled him to the surface and to the beach. He set him down for a moment and looked at his face. The sunrise of the fourth day shone on his face. Bakura's white hair was soaked and out of place. But he's safe now.Marik was exhausted, and didn't think he could move much longer. He rested his head on the sand beside Bakura and shut his eyes for a moment.

Oh Ra!
Marik's eyes felt glued shut when he tried opening them. His lips were chapped and his throat was like sandpaper. He felt so dry and dehydrated. There were low, hushed voices, and mutters and mumbles. Marik knew Bakura's voice was one of them. Finally he felt himself being lifted off of the sand, and he felt Bakura's hair against his face. He was being carried bridal style, but then again, there was really no other way to carry him.
I don't get it, why don't they just throw me back in the ocean?
The ocean sounds so nice right now, actually....Finally he rests in Bakura's lap as they rode in a car. Marik only made some shuddering noises as he clung to Bakura's warm chest. His shirt was still moist from the ocean, so he took in every bit he could. Even his sweat would do. Ew....never mind....
Finally Marik felt the edge of a water bottle being held to his lips. He heard Bakura's gruff British voice say, "drink."
Marik obeyed, drinking every last drop, even though he breathed water and didn't drink it. But hey! Water's water, right? He found himself getting dizzy, even though the water did help. He just wanted to lay in Bakura's arms forever. Merman or not, he just wanted to be with him.

Marik awoke in a tub. A water filled tub. Yugi, Yami, Ryou, Pegaus, Tristan, Duke, Tèa, Joey, Seto, Mokuba, and even Serenity all seemed to be staring at Marik's tail, making him feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Um..." He waved his fingers and slouched awkwardly. "Hi?"
"What's the big idea, Marik?" Joey crossed his arms. "Is this some kind of prank or something?"
Marik wanted to be out of the situation. "Why am I still here? Why didn't you just put me back in the ocean?"
Yami shrugged. "Bakura said to bring you here first, since he had questions. He wanted to make sure you won't swim away."
"Then why isn't he here?" Marik was starting to wonder where he was.
"He's 'getting some air' or just killing things. It's all been kind of a lot to take in in such a short period of time, you know?" Serenity said.
"That Melvin's a freaky psychopath?"
"Well, that's one thing-"
"How I had had Knifey the whole time?"
"Not exact-"
"That someone as sexy as me keeps getting to save him over and over?"
Before Serenity could try to say something, Yugi stepped in with: "YOU'RE A MERMAN. YOURE A FREAKY FISH GUY. And I'm surprised Mako Tsunami hasn't made an appearance in a fanfic where the ocean is literally a HUGE part of the plot."
"You know, I find that very offensive!" Marik crossed his arms. "Besides, Mako hunts fish, doesn't he?"
"No one cares about what he actually does!" Yugi spat.
"Okay, okay, we're getting off topic..." Serenity said.
"Why are you all bloody surrounding him? Get out!" Bakura scowled as he entered the room. "I need to be alone with Marik."
Everyone looked at each other, then to Marik and Bakura, then exited the room as Marik suddenly felt anxious.
Did Bakura feel differently about him now? Was Bakura going to kill him?
"Bakura, I'm sorry, I was-""Shut up, Marik." He kneeled beside the tub. "I'm going to ask you some questions, and I want you to tell me the truth. Okay?"
"Got it." Marik nodded.
