Fiona dragged me until we were all in an old truck that seemingly belonged to her. Marshall was sitting in the middle messing around with the radio as Fiona drove, every so often looking over at her and sighing, though she wasn't really doing much. I watched them both, my eyes scanning them closely to see every hair movement, every clothes jostle, every tiny thing. I must have zoned out completely again whilst watching them because the next thing I remember seeing was Marshall shaking me gently and looking concerned.
"Yo, are you okay Gumball? You sorta blanked on us there" his voice was fuzzy around the edges as he spoke, or maybe that was just my ears.
"Yeah, yeah I'm alright, it happens all the time don't worry" I said shaking my head from side to side trying to rid my hearing and my eyesight of the fuzziness. He nodded and stretched getting out of the truck. It took me a moment to realise that Fiona wasn't here but I was kind of happy she wasn't as I didn't know if I would have been able to have been so comfortable after regaining my senses with more than one person. Suddenly Marshall grabbed my hand and started walking, I didn't have trouble catching up and walking beside him but something in my gut twisted and clenched at the feeling of my hand in his.
As we walked into the large house that was in front of us, the first thing that I smelt was alcohol.
"Marshall, this place stinks are you sure this is right?" I asked knowing the answer rightly but wanting to make some sort of conversation. He just shrugged back at me and laughed before turning to actually look at my face.
"Yeah this is the right place, LSP always throws raging parties and we're always here" he smiled at me and my throat closed over. God what was going on in my head. Anyways, we both walked over to a large couch where there was a group of people sitting together. First was Fiona, then there was a boy sitting beside her with bright ginger hair, beside him was a girl who looked like Fiona with a bob and darker hair who was sitting on the lap of a tall looking boy with black hair.
To say I was intimated was an understatement, I was down right terrified. I'd never been around this many people who I didn't know and with the party going on around us my heart beat even faster in my chest.
"Hey you two finally made it!" Fiona cheered and stood up hugging Marshall and then hugging me. I was completely frozen as she did, but she kept an arm around my shoulders and motioned to me.
"Everyone this is Gumball, Gumball this is everyone" she giggled. I waved awkwardly and smiled at them all. After proper introductions I found out that Cake and Mono were together and bother were going to graduate this year, Fiona was Cake's younger sister, Flame was a natural ginger though his hair was super bright and Marshall had a small obsession with the colour red.
"So Gumball where'd you move from? Aaa isn't a usual move to destination?" Cake asked from her place on Mono's knee. I shrugged gently and sighed.
"My family and I moved from Ooo which isn't to far away actually."
As I was speaking Fiona left and returned with two cups, she held one out to me. I took it but looked down into the cup with a raised eyebrow. I'd never actually drank before and it's terrifying.
"Please tell me you've had a drink" Flame said seemingly deflated. I looked up sheepishly before looking back down at the ground. I suddenly heard Flame give out a yelp.
"Flame he doesn't have to drink if he doesn't want to, it's his choice" Mono spoke up, I looked up to see Marshall glaring at the ginger boy who was rubbing the back of his head. I giggled quietly to myself and bent my head.
"You didn't have to hit me Marsh!" He snapped turning to the boy in red.
As all of this went on I took a small sip out of the cup and soon I had downed the whole thing. Fiona and Cake both looked at me smiling. While the boys were all arguing.
"So how did you like it?" They both asked. I shrugged gently and smiled back.
"More than you'd expect" I chuckled and lay back on the floor staring up at the ceiling. The sound around me was loud but really I couldn't care less.
Someone I hadn't known before came over with a plate of food and another drink, I took it not entirely think about anything that could be in it or if it would have been spiked. So I started eating without a care. Cake was showing off how bendy she was, which was very as a gymnast. Flame and Mono were sitting talking and sometimes looking around at the rest of the group to check what was happening. Fiona was dancing with everyone and anyone while Marshall sat watching me.
Well I thought he was watching me and I found out this was correct when he came to sit down beside me.
"So you enjoying living here?" He asked as he lifted a brownie off my plate and taking a bite out of it.
As if I couldn't control my mouth I began rhyming off everything I hated about moving, about how everything had changed and that even though we had just met that they were my only friends.
"And of course after I move my old best friend shot himself, but no everything is great" I said flatly and stared down at my feet. I didn't have the guts to look back up at him, but I didn't think I had control over it anyway.
Marshall's face was shocked but he didn't speak, I wasn't expecting him to, but suddenly he stood up and made his way over to Fiona again to talk to her. Cake, Mono and Flame all ended up huddling around me with their cups, Cake on one side, Mono on the other and Flame in front of me.
Suddenly Fiona's voice called out above everything else and the music in the room was lowered. We all looked at her with raised eyebrows."
Hey guys! I'd like to make a toast, to Gumball, welcome to the gang dude" everyone around me cheered and I just sat in shock. Soon Mono and Cake were booted off their seats so Marshall and Fiona could take them. We all started talking and laughing and doing normal teenage things, it was maybe the first time in forever that I felt normal, and I was starting to like it.
Dear Friend
I went to a party and you know what I've actually made some great friends. There's Fiona who I've mentioned before, her sister Cake (she's a gymnast and can get into the strangest positions). Cakes boyfriend Mono and his best friend Flame and then there's Marshall lee. He's everyone's friend. I really hope that I can keep them, I'm finally feeling like I belong here.
