Dr. Beckett took a look to the papers that he previously placed on to his knees. "Now Liam. Since you have a mild head injury and slept later on -which you shouldn't have, you could have had a cerebral brain hemorrhage- I would like you to check if you are able to do daily actions and if you have damaged your brain in any other ways.
Do you feel headache?"
No, Said Liam.
"Nausea?"
No.
"Can you read this sentence on my paper without having a headache and nausea?"
Yes.
"Can you understand what I'm saying clearly? Do you hear me well?"
Yes.
"Are you extremely sleepy?"
No.
"Great."Liam nodded, sniffing. Dr. Beckett turned the page.
"Have you experienced numbness after the incident?"
Oh, he was far, far away from feeling numb! He got all hot and bothered from every question that was literally showing the way right outside of the hospital. He thought of lying and wanted to say 'yes, I feel numb', so he can stay at the room with shining white walls, white sheets, white table, dilute, horrendous, cold meals for a little longer. But then he realized that there wouldn't be anytime to figure out where the smelly letter was because of the redundant, ineffective treatment, that would last for hours, only giving him the time to sleep, eat, and use the toilet; that was all caused by a bald lie that would most probably turn into a whacker, make him sink into disrepute a little deeper. he wouldn't want to ruin that chance.
"Liam?"
He heard doctor calling his name.
"No, I don't feel numb." He said, his words becoming more hoarse after every word. He was still regretting a bit for saying the truth.
"Great," said the doctor and stood up, closing the curtains.
Now, the room was poorly lit. Liam could see his movements and the general face shape of his. And then he opened up the curtains again.
"Did you had a small headache when I changed the intensity of the light?"
"Not really."
Doctor nodded and went back to his seat again.
"So it's time for more complex actions. Like talking, walking, invisibility and such.
We will start off by talking. I have noticed that you can give simple and short responses to my questions on time and you are not stammering. So we are gonna skip that part."
Liam smiled, as if it was easy to cover up the sadness just by showing few teeth at the front.
Doctor responded him with a fake smile, avoiding to see the moroseness in Liam's eyes.
"Now Liam, I want you to stand up."
Liam did what was told him to.
"Walk in a straight line."
"Now I want you to..."
"It's time for..."Minutes passed. Liam was already feeling that his stomach was growling, almost clawing his skin.
"Your balance is fine and any of your limbs are paralyzed. And Liam... This is the last part. We need to check on your powers. Your brain's functioning is remarkably fine, so I am not expecting you to have a trouble with your invisibility, but we need to get that checked anyways."
Liam dispritedly nodded and closed his eyes, squeezing his fist, accepting his faith; because Being invisible was in the bag. He couldn't lie about that one.
