Mate

Breakfast, I love the smell of pancakes in the morning. As I'm walking down the stairs I hear my brother Alfonso and an unfamiliar voice of a girl.

"Ava I would like you to meet Cassie"

"Hey, I'm Ava"

"She's my mate, my wife"

"What?! When?!"

"When I was on vacation in Australia"

"Alf, you got married and you didn't even invite me"

"Don't worry Av nobody was there it was just me and her"

"When we saw each other it felt natural for us to get married" Cassie added

"Well congrats to you two"

I went inside the kitchen to see my mom

"Good morning mother" I kissed her on the cheek

"Good morning Av, want some pancakes?"

"Is that even a question mom? So where's Damon?"

"Out with Violet"

"Violet who?"

"Your brother's human mate"

"Human? Does she know about the werewolf thing?"

"Your brother told her"

"So Alf and Damon already found their mates. That's fine. I'm fine"

"Don't worry Ava you're still young, you'll find him soon"

"I hope so.."

After our conversation I decided to lock myself up in my room. I felt lonely and alone.

Knock knock

"What?!" I said shouting

"I want you to meet Cassie's brother Steffano"

"Okay I'll be down in a sec"

I hope this Steffano dude is my mate

"Nice of you to come down" Alfonso said

"Well I'm kinda hoping that this Steffano dude that you're talking about is my mate"

"We'll see. Steffano, this is Ava, Ava this is Steffano"

Please be my mate, please be my mate..

"Hey I'm Cassie's brother"

And he's not..

"Yeah Alf told me"

"I'll leave you two alone" Alfonso said while teasing us

"So how old are you?" I asked

"18, you?"

"Wow you look so old compared to your age"

"You?"

"Sorry don't mind me. I'm 18"

"Wanna hang out?"

"Sure, I'm actually meeting my best friend Em for coffee wanna come?"

"Okay let's go"

"She's not a werewolf so hush"

"Okay"

Em wanted to meet at a french café. Classic Esme, she's a wannabe french cause she loves paris so much.

"Hey there birthday girl"

"A, my birthday is on friday"

"Whatever, by the way this is Steffano"

"Hi, I'm Esme" Em said to Steffano

The three of us sat down at a fancy french couch

"So how do you two know each other" Em asked

Just in time to ruin my story telling mojo my phone rang only to see my brother Damon calling. Ugh.

Esme's POV

"Ava your phone is ringing" I said

"I know, I'm trying to ignore it"

"Answer it A, it might be important"

"Fine. Damon what do you want?"
"Guys I'm sorry I have to go"

"What? Why?"

She whispered something in Steffano's ear

"Hey what was that about!" I shouted

"I'll explain later I have to go. See you tomorrow"

"Guess it's just the two of us" Steffano said

"Guess it is. Shall we order?" I said smiling

"One large espresso please"

"I'll have a cappucino"

The waiter took our order and might I say he is one handsome lad

"So where are you from? Wait let me guess, Australia?" I asked

"And you know this because?

"Duh, your accent"

"Oh haha yeah you got me"

"So why'd you move?"

"My sister sorta got married so we had to move here"

"And your parents?"

"Dead"

"Sorry I didn't mean.."

"Hey it's okay don't worry"

Well that was awkward..

"So do you like Ava?"

"Not really but her scent is very attractive"

"Scent? You like her perfume?"

"Oh um yeah she smells um like um, she smells expensive yeah that's it"

It was always like that. Every person Ava met loved her, every guy she met wanted to be with her. Growing up, it was hard to be around her. Everyone I knew wanted to know everything about her. It was always about her, not me.

"Thanks for the company" I said

"Anytime, hey happy birthday in advance"

"Thank you, I'll see you soon?"

"See you soon Esme"

Steffano's POV

"So how was the pack meeting yesterday?"

"It was about our packs merging. My brother Alfonso the alpha and your sister Cassie the luna. Did Em ask?"

"No, I almost told her a werewolf thing"

"How did she react?"

"Not so surprised"

"What was it that you told her?"

Shit she's asking, lie steffano. Lie! "Um, Weren't we needed in the pack house?"

"Oh yeah Alfonso has an announcement"

"Well then off we go"

Ava's POV

"Alf we're here what's the problem?" I asked, worried.

Alfonso smiled and answered "I'll announce it later you just wait"

My brother was waiting for everyone to arrive so he could announce his thing. Just as everybody arrived he started talking.

"Everybody Cassie and I.."

"Get to it" My brother Damon shouted

"Cassie is pregnant!"

Wow that was fast. Finding your mate must be incredible. Alfonso's announcement only made me more sad but I'm happy for him.

"Congratulations brother" I said with a fake smile

Alfonso was very happy. The smile on his face can't be erased "Thank you kiddo"
