I always thought my life was normal, but all that changed when I met a certain boy.
It was on a Monday afternoon and, as I was walking home, I came across something terrible. A boy, stood motionless, lying on the floor. His breathing was slow and looked painful. I approached him and asked what was going on but he didn’t replay. I didn’t know what to do, if I called an ambulance it could not make it in time, but I had to try, I just couldn’t stay still and do nothing.
“I’ll call an ambulance. Hang in there.” I said but he just looked at me with his deep hazel eyes that put me in a daze and prevented me from moving my body. He had a gentle gaze but at the same time frightening, frightening for being able to hypnotize anyone with its beauty. I didn’t move and, as if he knew what would happen next he asked me to give my hand to him. I obeyed without hesitation and as soon as our hands touched, it was as if I had received an electric shock. I felt all my energy leaving my body, my eyes were heavy and I just wanted to close them, then, without being able to hold on more, I collapsed, asleep on the floor.
When I finally woke up, after a couple of hours, I found myself on a strange room. The bed where I had been lying was big, big enough to fit two people there. The room was large, but empty there were only the simple things needed in a room; a bed, a bedside table, a wardrobe, a desk and no more than that; the walls were white and the bed sheets blue. There were two doors opposite each other, one probably led to the corridor, the other to the bathroom. Two minutes passed and nothing happened. I was scared to move and go look for someone myself, my head hurt and I couldn’t remember very well what had happen. Three more minutes passed, one of the doors opened and a boy entered the room. He looked at me and smiled as his hazel eyes shined.
“I’m glad you are okay.” he said. “If I had taken all your energy I would feel really bad.”
I was confused and nothing that he said made any sense to me, I looked at him again and I finally remembered. He was the boy I had come across earlier on the street, I was glad he was safe, but I still couldn’t understand a thing about what he had said, so I decided to ask.
“Energy?”
“Yes.”he replied.
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
“Yes it does. You are just too dumb to understand it!”
“Dumb? I can’t believe you actually said that!” I replied angrily.
“Hahaha!” he laughed “I was kidding. Thank you! You actually saved my life.” And in a quick way, he approached me, held my head and gently gave me a kiss on the forehead.
I blushed so much I bet, at that time, I must have looked like a tomato. I pushed him away and he just laughed a bit more, I was speechless. I looked at the clock and realizing how late I was, I run away from there, leaving that boy behind.
Once I arrived home my mother was super angry at me for arriving so late and I saw no other solution but to explain what had happened (well most of it), my mother let me go, but not before giving me a slight scolding and after that I went upstairs towards my room, to try and forget what had happened, but, a guy like him isn’t easy to forget. Indeed, a strange guy he is!
The next morning I woke up earlier, or rather, I hadn’t slept at all; I let myself stay in bed trying to forget that horrible night. My eyes were hurting me but I couldn’t close them, I was afraid, afraid to fall asleep and dream of that dark and silent place. A place where it was just me and nobody else, not a sound or light, just silence and darkness that slowly was eating me inside, it was such a horrible nightmare, ‘cause, even though it was a dream, it felt real, too real.
“It’s been awhile since I last had this nightmare.” I thought to myself. I could still remember, it had all began the year before; first it wasn’t such a bad nightmare, in the beginning there was still light even though I couldn’t hear anything, then, little by little, the light had turned into darkness and now, one year after, it was just like the darkness was eating me. Such a bad experience had made me afraid of that nightmare, and I had already lost count to the nights I spent awake, not being able to fall asleep.
As I was embraced by my thoughts, my mum walked into my room and looked at me with a smile on her face.
“Mia, don’t be lazy.” she said.
“I’m not lazy! I’m just tired.” I replied hiding under the bed sheets.
“Well, tired or not, if you don’t get up now you are going to be late for school.”
“I get it. I get it. I’m coming.” I sighed as I got up.
In a quick way I changed my pajamas into my school uniform; a white shirt, red tie, black skirt with a red edge, black shoes and a coat. I particularly liked my school for its uniform and it was something which I had in account when choosing to which school I would go.
After washing my face, brushing my teeth and combing my hair I went downstairs for breakfast, but on my way, when I was already at the bottom of the stairs, I noticed that the clock, which was right in front of me, above the mirror, marked 8.15 a.m. and without thinking twice I rushed out of the house towards the school.
Once I arrived there, and after passing the school gate, I ran as fast as I could to the classroom, sitting on my chair, right before the last ring signal.
