Heart’s PoV

Right before my eyes Mia got attacked once more and this time she was completely knocked out. My heart let out a loud thump and I felt both rage and sadness overtake me; once again I had allowed her to get hurt and it hurt me knowing I hadn’t been capable of protecting her as the guardian I was supposed to be. I had allowed myself to relax, trusting the fact that she could fight back, unlike anything that had happened before, and now I regretted with my whole being; painful memories of the past came rushing to my head and I shook it violently preventing myself from remembering them. Fully concentrated on the present I took my sword out of my sheath and slowly averting my gaze from Mia placed it on Shade.

“Are you that mad that your little master got knocked out?” Shade spoke with a grin. “Or is it that you’re seeing a repetition of the past?” he asked, slowly speaking every word.

The rage in me was growing more and more as I clenched my teeth and charged against Shade, however, the one who fought back was Klaud instead.

“You are 10000 years to early to be able to touch the prince.” his voice showed a slight touch of anger, but his eyes held no expression at all.

“I thought you were supposed to be my opponent.” I threw at Shade, emphasizing the you word, and stepping back a bit.

“He’s right Klaud. Step back!” Shade ordered as Klaud quietly obeyed. “Let’s see how much you can do with the little energy you have left.” He spoke before attacking me.

For a while our match was equal in both strength and speed, but I knew I wouldn’t last long. Fighting in the human world was tiresome and with Mia unconscious I couldn’t receive the proper amount of energy I actually needed to fight off Shade so I was at a big disadvantage.

We kept our pace for five minutes but once the five minutes were up I didn’t have enough  energy to keep being in my spirit form, therefore, even though it was a risk, I stepped back a few meters and returned to my human form only leaving my sword materialized.

“Giving up already?” Shade asked clearly disappointed.

“Unfortunately for you, no!” I answered confident.

“Oh, so you actually think you can beat me like that? Bah, pathetic!”

“Pathetic or not it’s only a matter of time before we find out.” I concluded charging once more.

As a human my skills were reduced quite a bit but my speed and strength were still far more greater than a normal human; giving my all I kept on attacking and defending Shade’s attacks which were obviously stronger, but even so, I didn’t give up. No matter what I wouldn’t allow them to harm Mia ever again. When I was little I had been taught how to fight in my human form and make the best of my human abilities in case I ever ended up in a real pinch and for that, right now, I was extremely grateful, because of those lessons, even if I was clearly the weakest I could still keep up with Shade and we kept on fighting until, suddenly, someone disrupted us. Probably led by the noise or maybe just by coincidence Reyen appeared which made both Shade and I lay our guard down; he stared at us for a few seconds, confusion could be seen in his eyes, which, quickly turned to worry when he placed his gaze on the unconscious Mia. With shock stamped in his face he alternated his gaze between me and Mia until he finally run up to her lifting her from the ground and carefully putting his arms around her body, making her rest in his lap.

“Mia? Hey! Wake up!” he exclaimed concerned as his grip around her tighten.

I averted my gaze from that scene feeling annoyed and looked back at Shade who was preventing Klaud from getting closer to Mia and Reyen and then he sighed and put away his weapon, a dual sword linked by a chain on the tip of each sword, but looking back at me fiercely.
