I was sitting at my desk doing my homework while Heart was sitting, behind me, on my bed, playing with my cat on his lap. I gazed at him from the corner of my eyes and could see his face with a radiant smile, a pure and innocent smile, just like of a child. I leaned against the back of my chair while staring at the ceiling when I heard my mum calling me.
“Mia! Let Bucky come down to have lunch.” she requested as I turned around and looked at Heart, standing up and walking towards him.
“Bucky it’s enough now. Go eat!” I exclaimed carrying him towards the door, opening it and putting him on the floor. “Go on.” I command but he kept looking at me with his blue eyes. “After you have lunch you can come and play with Heart again.” I finished with a smile and he hurried up down the stairs towards the kitchen. I turned back at the room and closed the door behind me.
“He seems to like you.” I pointed out.
“I like him too.” Heart affirmed with a smile. “But I must say that I had never seen a cat like him.”
“Indeed.” I agreed nodding with my head.
Bucky was different from the other cats, he had brown like orange fur and deep blue eyes, which made that combination quite strange since, normally, cats like Bucky had green or black eyes, not blue, but in the end that’s what made him special.
“Not to mention his name is strange too.” Heart let out.
“I don’t want to hear that coming from you.” I said as I showed my tongue while looking at him.
“I don’t see what’s wrong with my name.” he said looking away. “If you think mine is strange, then you should hear my brother’s name.”
Right after he finished pronouncing those words my expression changed to an awed one and I sat next to him feeling excited.
“You have a brother?” I asked looking at him slightly amused.
Heart stopped for a bit as he kept looking at me, I noticed he was once again lost in his own thought and decided to wait for his answer. Whenever Heart was like that it made me realize how little I knew about him and how mysterious he was and, somehow, it gave me a feeling of loneliness.
“Silver…” he muttered after a couple of seconds. “My brother’s name is Silver.”
“Humm. Interesting.” I mumbled. “Your brother is Silver, you have Golden in your name, that must be a precious family.” And upon saying this Heart looked at me giving an unpleasant hint with his eyes, but keeping a calm and serene expression.
“You didn’t like my joke?” I asked as I stood up and proceed to stand in front of him. “Of course you didn’t like it. Now that I think back, it probably sounded like an insult. Sorry.” I ended up apologizing to him.
“I’m in no position to get mad at you if you ever insult me, so don’t worry.” he said smiling faintly.
“And why is that?” I asked annoyed about the direction that talk was taking.
“You’re my Master. You can say and do whatever you want.”
“Again?” I let out a long sigh. “You should stop speaking of yourself as if you were an object for my personal use.” I finished letting myself fall onto the bed next to him.
“Gosh. That sounded so perverted.” he let out as the corner of his mouth formed into a mischievous smile that I had never seen. I got up and placed my hand in his forehead to measure his temperature.
“Nop. You don’t seem to be sick.” I let out. “Maybe you were switched by an alien!” I exclaimed getting up and assuming a defensive posture. Heart was dumbfounded looking at me and upon seeing his face I just shrugged my shoulders and sat, once again, on the bed. “Well, you were an alien from the very start so it’s not like you got switched.”
