PREVIOUSLY:

"Why do you call your parents mother and father? Not, like, mum and dad?" He asks, cutting me off.

"I don't really know. I was taught from a young age to always respect my elders and not talk back. I learned to be polite, I guess it just came to me naturally."

"So your family never had bonding times?"

"Not really. Father was always busy working and mother would just critique every move we made."

"What about your siblings?"

"Alex does nothing except help father and suck up to mother. He never wanted to hang out with the rest of us. Grace was probably more like a brother to me than he is."

"Sounds like you had it rough." Luke states, and I feel like it has a deeper meaning than how it sounds, so I didn't respond.

-

"Thank you!" I yell to the cab driver, throwing him $100. The rest of the drive with Luke was really awkward, and I think even the cab driver felt some of the awkwardness.

"Thank you," The cab driver responded in the normal fashion.

"For getting out of my car." Luke added to his sentence quietly in my ear.

I giggled and gestured for him to follow me to the park.

It was hidden by trees and took expertise to get into it.

You had to walk through some branches, that's what I mean.

"Where even are we going??" Luke asked, frantically trying to keep at my pace.

"We call it the palaces' hidden Central Park." I tell him.

"Oh, right, because the actual Central Park is overrun by tourists."

"Yeah, and also my parents won't let us go there."

"So what's up with your parents anyways? If you don't mind me asking, that is."

"Oh, no, I don't mind. They're just really over protective. My father has lots of pressure to be a good king and all, but it's mainly my mother who does the work. I usually ask my father for things instead of mother because he's more laid back, even though you'd expect them to be switched."

"That's... Interesting." Luke says.

"Yeah, I guess. So tell me about yourself, I don't know much about you." I try to change the subject off of me.

"Well, there's not much to tell. I'm Lucas Robert Hemmings. I'm 18 years old* and I like penguins. That's basically it."

"That can't be it- Oh, we're here!"

"Yay! Ok, where's the clue?"

I make a mental note though, to ask Luke for deeper facts on his life.
