Chapter 3: H-U-N-G-R-Y

Kaneki is hungry. Kaneki is very, very hungry. But what is he hungry for?

Is he craving the taste of soft, human flesh?

Is he craving the taste of sweet, scarlet blood?

Or...

Or is he hungry for a TOUCH?

"Hungry," Kaneki mutters, shaking even though there is a warm breeze.

"H-u-n-g-r-y."

He is hungry for a high five.

OR

A handshake.

OR

A hug.

OR...

OR...

Being completely honest, he is h-u-n-g-r-y for a kiss.

He wishes that he could kiss Hide. He wishes that he could kiss him just once... He wishes that he could kiss Hide's forehead, or his cheek, or his neck, or his lips...

Kaneki wishes that he knew what Hide's lips felt like. Hide's lips looked slender but soft. Were they as soft as they looked? Or were they a little chapped, a little scratchy...

His hunger grows with each passing second.

His hunger grows with each blonde he sees.

That man could be Hide...

BUT HE ISN'T.

Hide is...

"Whatchya sitting on the roof for?" A familiar, and melodic voice asks. Slowly turning his head, Kaneki can feel his eyes involuntarily widen as he sees a familiar figure.

HIDE IS RIGHT HERE!

HIDE IS WITH HIM!

"I was looking for you," Kaneki responds, and unable to resist the urge to hug his best friend (more accurately, crush), dashes towards Hide. "Hide! Don't leave me..."

After what feels like an eternity, Kaneki reaches Hide. Wrapping his pale arms around his friend, Kaneki is shocked to find that all he feels is air.

"BAKAneki," Hide scolds, his voice slowly becoming distorted, "You can't hug someone that you've eaten!" With a sinister laugh, Hide rests one of his transparent hands upon Kaneki's stomach. "If you want to hug me, you'll have to hug your stomach!" For some reason, Kaneki's stomach growls. "Oh, you're still hungry? My, my, you must have an enormous stomach..." With that said, Hide vanishes.

"NO!" Kaneki screams, scaring a nearby pigeon. "NO NO NO NO NO NO!"

"I am not hungry!"

"I am not h-u-n-g-r-y!"

"I DID NOT EAT HIDE!"

"I am not hungry..."

"I DID NOT EAT HIDE!"

"I am.." As if some primal instinct overcomes him, Kaneki soon snarls, "HUNGRY! I AM H-U-N-G-R-Y!"

"HUNGRY!"

"HUNGRY!"

"HUNGRY!"

"HUN-"

"You're a mess, aren't you hun?" An amused voice asks, soon accompanied by the sound of a click.
