I woke up with a sharp pain in the back of my head as my eyes fluttered open slowly. The funny thing was, I didn't remember going to sleep; I didn't remember ever going home. Maybe I had just fallen asleep in a home that was not mine. But I realized what exactly had happened and where I was once my eyes flew open and was fully aware. I began to freak out as I saw glass scattered across the road and blood dripping from the roof of the car, we were upside down. Then I remembered the crash, the one that had lead us to being this way.
Flash Back
"Andy, stop it. This isn't funny" I said loudly, trying to overpower the music that blared from the radio and the booming laughter that came from his friends in the back seat. My eyes became wide in panic with each passing moment he kept driving.
I half expected him to listen to me and stop since usually he listened to me and respected my decisions but he kept driving with alcohol pulsing through his system.
He kept his eyes on the road and nodded along with the song that played on the radio, the laughter in the back seat became louder and louder as Andy accelerated over 100 and swerved along the road.
"ANDY, PLEASE!" I pleaded leaning myself in closer to him. Ready to take control of the road myself if he didn't start slowing down soon.
He glanced over at me, his eyes blood shot and glassy. "Relax. I got this" he slurred, giving me a small smirk. He glanced behind him and gave his two friends a smile before returning his gaze back to the road.
"WATCH OUT!" I yelled loudly, leaning back in my seat.
A semi-truck only a few feet away from the mouth of Andy's car tried desperately to swerve the other way but to no avail.
Andy glanced forward, his eyes suddenly widened in panic. He gripped the wheel tighter and swerved the car the other way.
The semi-truck collided with us, making the car fly backwards, and do a few back flips before skidding across the concrete.
My head flew back hitting the head of my seat as the air bag flew out in front of me. Smashing into my upper body.
End of Flash Back
"Miss, are you okay?" A voice asked, pulling me back to reality.
I blinked as a bright light was shining into my eyes, making them water just a bit from the glare. When the light had disappeared I gazed up at the face of a man who couldn't have been more than twenty five years old. His hair was slightly disheveled and his bright blue eyes reflected the moon. I tried to get words to project from my mouth but when nothing came out I gave him a slight smile and maybe even a grimace.
He yelled to somebody over by the ambulance, asking them to bring a gurney.
The last thing I remembered seeing before I faded into the nothingness that dominated over me, was being locked on the back board then pulled up onto the gurney, being hauled off into the ambulance.
"I love you" someone whispered off in the distance. I could clearly hear the hurt and sadness behind them along with the tears. The sobs that came from what I assumed must be a woman, got louder as I forced myself to awaken from the bliss of unconsciousness.
I blinked a few times, trying to get my eyes to focus on what was in front of me, all the while a loud gasp came from beside me. I peered over to my left and smiled as the figure became more and more visible the more I blinked, and it was no surprise when I found it to be my loving mother sitting beside me with my baby sister, only five, seated in her lap.
"Brook!" My sister Alison yelled in happiness. She smiled a wide smile showing off her baby teeth before slinging herself onto the bed beside me. "You 'wake!"
