Chapter 1.

Riley's POV.

I wanted to get away from everything, the bullying, the negativity, but most of all I wanted to get away from my self. My mum and dad had the suggestion of moving away to Austin, Texas. It was were all the rest of our family was, including my grandparents who had moved from Philly to there. Everything was ready to go. Staring at the boxes in my room, it being so empty. I wanted to cry, not only for leaving here, but because I would also be seeing my uncle Shawn and his new wife Katy. Apparently she had a daughter too. In mid-thought my mum stepped into my room. "So, your going today but my and your father have to stay until we can sought stuff out with our jobs and the house." My mum explains to me. "So, I'm staying with uncle Shawn." I ask excitedly. "Yep." I run and hug her, she hugs me really tight. "We just want you to be happy Riley, find someone to make you happy." Her voice sounds so soft. "I will." I let go and grab my luggage. We walk down into the lobby of our apartment building and then my mum, dad and brother auggie are shortly behind me. Auggies also staying behind with my mum and dad. "We love you, and we will see you as soon as everything is sorted." My mum and dad pull me into a hug while auggie joins in too. My mum kisses me in my forehead and my dad on the top of my head. I ruffle auggies curly hair with my hand and he hugs me again. "I'll miss you Riley." He says. "I'll miss you too auggie, but I'll see you soon." I wave one last goodbye as I hop in the taxi.

I was soon on the plane, waiting to arrive in Austin, Texas. I couldn't wait to see Shawn. "Mrs Mathews, we will be arriving in Austin shortly." An aeroplane assistant had told me. "Okay thank you." I smile at her while she walks away.

In the matter of an hour we had landed and I had got off the plane. I was looking around for them when I realised I had bumped straight into someone. "Oh, I'm so sorry." She was short with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. "It was my fault, I should of been watching where I was going." I said to her feeling so bad. "No really, it's ok, who are you looking for." She asks me. "Oh, just my uncle Shawn and his wife Katy, they said they were picking me up." I had got into a conversation with a complete stranger and for the first time I felt as if I was normal, as if I wasn't someone who is constantly bullied and called worthless. "Shawn and Katy, yeh, I was sent to pick you up, good job we bumped into each other I guess, I'm Katy's daughter." I guess I was kind of disappointed in a way as I was really excited to see my family again, I miss them so much. "Well my names Riley, nice to meet you." I held out my hand which she gladly shook. "My name is Maya. We should really get going." We walked out to a truck that I was guessing is hers. Maya was driving when She looked over at me. "So, why did you really move from LA to here."

What did I say at this point?

"Um...well...I just really missed my family, especially Shawn and my uncle Josh, i guess." I could tell she knew that wasn't all. "Ok...so are you gonna tell me the real reason." I guess she knew there was something else. 

That's when I found my self telling Maya why I really moved, she looked at me amazed by all of the things that people can do to make you feel the way I do. A tear slipped from my eye as did one from hers. "No one...no one has the right to say that stuff to you, listen riles, I hardly know you but I can tell your a great person and I really need you to know that I'll be here for you no matter what." Maya looked like a tough girl but I guess she was a softy if it came to a situation like this, I could tell she was going to be important in my life here. "Thank you Maya, it means a lot to me." I smile at her and she returns one. The rest of the ride we just talked and talked. Maya lived with Shawn, and his new wife Katy. I had always been close to Shawn and he was the one I first opened up to about everything. I guess she was going to be around a lot, but I didn't mind that. I felt as if she was going to be a really good friend to me.

I hopped out of the truck and looked around to see the ranch, it was even more beautiful than I remembered, the grass was greener and the trees were taller, as well as the overwhelming smell of the fresh air. The horses in the paddock and then the barn with all of the animals and then the house. It had been expanded as I could see and Maya told me how, my grandparents and Josh lived in the ranch next to us, which is also great. Everything seemed great. Things got better as Shawn and Katy, came running out of the house. I hugged them both. "Shawn, I misse you so much, and it's really nice to meet you Katy." They hugged me even tighter. "I missed you so much to." Shawn said while hugging me. "It's really nice to meet you too Riley, and I hope Maya had treated you well." I laugh and Maya does too. "Oh, she's great." I then looked over at Josh, who was also here to greet me, and ran and jumped into his arms he twirled me around. "Riles, you've grown so much." I couldn't believe how much he'd grown. "I can say the same thing." We all laughed as he put me back down on the floor. I looked in front of me and I could tell that this was going to be a good start to a new start. I looked over at Maya who was awkwardly staring at Josh. "Let's go inside then, dinner will be done in a few seconds." I forgot to mention how great of a cook Katy is, well at least that's what I've heard. "Yay!" We all laugh and I felt happy for the first time in a while. We all talked and caught up and Josh left about 8ish to go back home. Maya showed me my room and left a while after wards. It was white with grey features, and I had my own bathroom. I opened my suitcase and took my blade out, I look at it and think, why? I chuck it out my window and don't think about it again, I needed to leave that part of me behind.
