I moaned as I cracked opened my eyes. The room was a dark green and across from me I saw a computer and anime posters on the wall.

Where was I?

I carefully sat up and took in my surroundings. A closet door was open with cardboard boxes stacked on top of each other. Clothes filled the top and there was a hint of a crease in the back of the closet. I was in a bed under blue plaid sheets that smelled faintly of Axe body spray and spice. My black boots were also besides the bed.

I was in Rin’s room. Where was he? A few blue strands from my hair was stuck to my forehead and I brushed it back with my hand. My wig must have fallen off somewhere…

“Rin!” I called.

Footsteps padded across the hall and the door squeaked open as Rin walked in, carrying a steaming mug. He was wearing the white shirt that went with his suit and two of the buttons were undone, He also donned black sweat pants and was barefoot.

“Good, you’re up.” He said, smiling at me. The soft light from the hall seemed to glow around his red hair. He sat down the mug on the nightstand.

“What happened?” I asked him.

“You fainted at the Convention and I brought you back here. Someone wanted to call an ambulance, but you seemed  fine, just weak maybe?” He frowned. “Why didn’t you tell me you were in a skit?”

“Skit?”

I remembered the confrontation between Kieran, Akihiro and me came to my remberance. No way was I telling Rin that  his supposed “skit” was a real battle between three types of fox spirits. “Oh yeah, I wanted it to be a surprise and that’s why I didn’t tell you.”

“So how did you guys do the blinding light and the black demon things? They all looked so real!” His eyes were lit up with curiosity.

“It was all technology. Some guy was working the cords and computers for us.”

“Well it was awesome!” His brow furrowed. “But I don’t think one of the techs knew  what they were doing. You hit that wall pretty hard.”

I waved off his comment. “Things happen.”

“Oh, I almost forgot.” He handed me the waxed paper. “I bought you some Taiyaki while we went our separate ways. I figured it would be something you would enjoy since you like sea food and all, though this isn’t seafood, but since it shaped like a fish…”

I bit into it and found that it tasted chewy and sweet. “They taste like pancakes!” I said. He nodded and watched me as I finished off the treat. “Thank you,” I told him, wrapping my arms around him in a hug.

“You’re welcome.” He said, returning the hug.

“And thanks for taking me to the convention. I had a lot of fun.”

“Anytime,” he said, smiling at me. “You want to know whio I originally wanted to be befoe you changed my costume plans?”

 “Who?”

“Sesshomaru,”

“Sure you didn’t want to be Miroku?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. “We could have been a couple.”

'”But I wanted to see how you have reacted if I dressed like him.” He leaned his face closer to my ear, like he was sharing a secret. “I know you have a thing for him.”

I blushed because it was ridiculous after all. ”Like you don’t have a crush in some fictional girl?”

“I’m into real girls.”

“”Anyone in particular?” I asked, batting my eyelashes.

He gave a nervous laugh and I thought I was finally going to get a confession out of him…to my dismay.

But then I heard an unfamiliar voice downstairs. “Rin, I’m home.”

Before I knew what was happening, Rin pressed his lips to mine. I acted on impulse and pulled him closer to me, knotting my fingers in his red hair. He moaned and deepened the kiss and slow warmth grew through my body. My body buzzed with new-found energy.

     “Rin Clayton Oswald!”

Rin jumped away from me and I came out of my trance long enough to recognize the plump woman in front of me. She had dark red hair like Rin’s, but it was curled up into a coif. The floral dress she wore did nothing to compliment her body shape and she wore a pearl necklace, reminding me of a fifties housewife.

Her face went from shock to anger as she took me in. “What are you doing with this…this Jezebel.”

Excuse me?” I asked, incredulous. I didn’t know what a Jezebel was, but the 3way she said it sounded offensive. Scrambling out of Rin’s bed, I nearly toppled over my boots that were left at the edge, but he managed to catch me.

“Are you okay?” Rin asked.

His mother harrumphed. “It’s probably drugs.”

“I don’t do drugs!”

“You could have fooled me with that hair. What are you, some sort of delinquent? I won’t have a harlot corrupting my son.” Her attention turned to Rin. “Have you been to one of those satanic conventions again? Did this girl influence you to go?”

Rin sighed, annoyed. They’re not satanic. I influenced her to go and don’t talk to her like that!”

“I will talk to your friends anyway I want to if I feel they are not suitable companions.”

I felt like tiny knives were being embedded in my brain as I listened to them bicker. ‘I’m just going to go home,” I told Rin.

“That’s right, go ahead and leave because you won’t be seeing my son anymore!”

I refrained from flipping the woman off as I stepped outside and let their house door slam shut behind me. I began the long trek home ready to do nothing more than to forget all that happened.

A/N: Rin's mother is a character isn't she? How will Rin and Penelope discuss what happened between them and will Penelope ever be able to face Akihiro again? Find out in the next chapter! Don't forget to comment!
