We walked in the door and Rose immediately ran off to Ben's office.
"Daddy, daddy, we're home," she yelled almost to the door.
"Rose don't bother them they might still be working," I said as I caught up to her.
"It's alright son," said Ben as he opened the door.
"Mommy! Daddy!" yelled Rose.
"Come on, let's go in the living room, I'm sure Evan has some questions," said Alex.
"Can I ask you guys something real quick," I asked them, scared of their answer.
"Of course," said Alex.
"I met a guy named Derek at the park and I was wondering if it was okay if he came over later," I asked looking down at my hands.
"Of course he can, but remember our rule," said Ben as he put his arm around Alex.
"There's no need to worry, he just sees me as a friend. He's not gay," I said sadly.
"Hey, don't be so down, you never know," said Alex as she hugged me.
"Thanks Alex, but I have to ask you guys a lot more questions," I said.
"Okay, come on," she said as she led me to the living room.
"My first question is, can I call you guys mom and dad," I asked nervously.
"Of course," said Alex with a huge grin on her face.
So after that I told them to just tell me everything and I asked questions when I needed answers. Surprisingly, I wasn't scared anymore. After all the questions I went up to my room that had been finished that afternoon. I looked at my alarm clock to see that it was 4:30.
I need to get ready, I thought.
One hour later:
I was so nervous, but I didn't know why.
Just then, I heard the door bell go off.
"Evan, your friend is here," yelled mom.
"Coming," I said. I looked myself over one last time in the mirror than went down stairs to see Sara pulling Cassie up stairs.
Dad was glaring at Derek as he stood in the door way looking uncomfortable.
"Dad, please stop glaring at him and let him in," I said.
He did as I asked so I grabbed Derek and pulled him up stairs while I could.
"Leave your door open Evan," dad yelled after me.
"Okay," I said.
"Sorry about him, he's over protective of his kids," I said.
"No need to apologize," he said smiling at me.
I looked down and blushed a bright red. Once we got to my room, I quietly closed the door so dad wouldn't hear it.
"Okay, so do you want to watch Netflix or play video games," I asked him.
"Netflix," he said.
I turned my TV on and gave him the controller so he could pick the movie. Of course he would pick a horror show, The Conjuring.
I sat next to him and all through out the movie I would curl up in his side and hide my face.
"You okay babe," he asked, chuckling.
Did he just call me babe, I thought.
I nodded my head yes.
Once the movie was over, I finally looked up at Derek to see him looking down at me. He slowly started to lean so I did the same. When our lips touched, I melted into him. Our lips moved in sync, he pulled me onto his lap and I moaned into his mouth, he smiled into the kiss. But before it got to heated my dad barged through the door, red in the face.
"I said keep this damn door open," boomed dad.
He scared me when he yelled like that, so I got up and ran to the bathroom, slamming and locking the door behind me.
Knock knock.
"Evan, can I come in sweetie," asked Alex softly.
With tears rolling down my face I unlocked the door and moved back. Derek came in with her. They both came in and mom shut the door.
"He hates me, doesn't he," I asked mom, referring to dad.
"Of course not baby, he's just upset that you didn't listen to him," she said.
Derek pulled me into his lap and tucked my head into the crook of his neck.
"Baby, it will be alright. How about you calm down for a minute and then we will go find your dad and I'll apologize to him," asked Derek.
"No, you have nothing to apologize for, but I do. I'll go alone, I need to talk to him," I whispered the last part.
I got up and looked in the bathroom mirror. My eyes were red and swollen and my nose was running. I look awful, I thought to myself.
Derek came up behind me and rapped his arms around my waist. "No you don't baby," he said softly.
"Awwww," said mom, "you two make such a cute couple."
My face immediately went bright red.
"I better go talk to him, wish me luck," I said and then walked out.
