Yato and Yukine got up the next day. They still hadn't any sleep. Kofuku was still mysteriously nerve-struck, and Daikoku was being even more of a jerk because of it. Yukine still felt guilty about the other day. Hiyori still hasn't turned up.

Life seemed to be at its worst, or at least halfway there.

Yato left without his jersey shirt or his scarf again. Yukine snuck along some breakfast as he walked out. Daikoku was busy trying to get his lady to get out of her room to eat. Kofuku refused, saying that she'd eat when she felt like it.

The god and Regalia didn't go searching around the shrines again. This time, they would go into town. The Far Shore may not know anything, but Hiyori is from the Near Shore. She's mainly from the real world without the Phantoms and god's and Regalias. Surely, the humans would know something.

So, they both walked side-by-side on the sidewalk.

It was a desolate area of town at first, but as they went on, more cars and signs appeared. The buildings turned into stores, schools and homes. By then, it was two hours later.

Yato sighed loudly, and Yukine yawned. They kept moving no matter how much their legs hurt. They wouldn't complain because they knew that someone had to find Hiyori.

For the first time, the question popped into Yukine's head. "Was... Hiyori kidnapped, or is she just lost?"

Yato came to a halt and hung his head. "It's not like her to just get lost," he said quietly.

"True," Yukine agreed "but why would someone kidnap her?"

Yato took a deep breathe. "I really dunno."

They both continued the painstaking walk for about another thirty minutes until Yato suggested they get some lunch. Yukine didn't answer. Yato turned around, only to notice that the boy was falling asleep as he was walking. He must've tuned out the pain in his legs when he was too focused on his thoughts to notice.

"Yukine?" Yato gently shook him. Slowly, his eyes opened."You can stop now."

"Mm." He answered, too drained out to talk.

They went to the nearest convenient store. Yukine decided to get comfortable on a bench. He felt thankful to have it. Yato brought back two sandwiches and two water bottles. He handed his Regalia one of the sandwiches. Yukine's bright eyes dashed over to the object he was receiving. He inspected it, confirming that it was indeed two slices of bread with cheese, turkey, lettuce and tomatoes. He finally took it and began unwrapping the clear plastic wrap.

"Arigato," his tired voice replied.

Yato sat down, too. He began eating it while Yukine started peeling the crusts off. When the Master was done eating, he lowered his water bottle and said, "Well, I think we should get going again." He looked over at the blond boy.

Yukine fell asleep again, his half-eaten sandwich in his limp hand. He had curled up on his side of the bench. One of his fingers twitched, and his mouth was open as he breathed.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Yato put his water to the side. He crossed his legs and put his hands behind his head. "Ten more minutes," he yawned.

. . . . .

"Yato? Yato!"

Yato woke up to see his Regalia nudging him.

"Come on," he said when he noticed that his Master's eyes open. "We have to keep looking for Hiyori, 'member?"

For a minute, Yato forgot what was happening. He woke up from a dream into a nightmare. Depression hit him hard with a rock.

"Oh," he said, staring off into space. He pulled out his phone, and flipped it open. It was 2:28 PM.
