Yato hit his back on the wall and slid down, sitting down in the corner of the building. The Sekki dropped at his side. His eyes filled with tears.

"Gomen'nasai, Hiyori!" He cried, covering his face in his hands. "I'm so sorry!"

Yato had no idea what to do, and for that, he could only apologize.

"Yukine." He called, bringing his Regalia back. The blond boy appeared by his side with a wet, red face.

"What're we gonna do?" Yukine asked, his voice cracking as he cried.

At that exact moment, Mayu busted through the doors. "Yato!" she cried, then noticing Hiyori, she called out her name too. "Hiyori!"

It was so odd for her to come into a room where everyone was down on their knees and crying, but, giving what they were going through, she understood.

"Mayu?" Yukine stood up, drying his tears. "How'd you find us?"

"Sheer luck, I guess," Mayu answered, bluntly. Then she said, "I was passing by and heard a huge bang and saw the windows break."

"Ah..." Yukine answered. Then he remembered, "You gotta help us! We don't have much time!"

Both of them turned to Hiyori, who looked up at Mayu.

"Please," she said to her. "I don't wanna die." The girl broke into tears again.

Mayu, narrowing her eyes in sadness, knelt down next to Hiyori and wiped the girl's tears away with her kimono. "Don't worry," the Regalia said, reassuring her just like Yato had. "No one here will let that happen."

It was soothing to hear that coming from a dead person herself.

Mayu spun around. "Yukine?" She said. "I found Hiyori's body. It's outside."

With a nod, Yukine ran outside.

Hiyori cried out in excruciating pain and grabbed her head again. She leaned over her knees, trying to forget it.

It was only then that Yato finally uncovered his face, worried, and rushed to Hiyori's side to be there for her. Yato repeatedly rubbed his love on the back as she cried in pain.

Mayu understood and backed away to give them some space.

Yukine came back in, Hiyori's sleeping body leaning on his back. He tried his best not to drag her.Mayu helped him lay her body next to Hiyori's spirit.

The pink waves illuminating from Hiyori's soul sped up, as if something in her sensed her body near.

"Get her close enough." Mayu said.

When Hiyori could reach herself, a sudden ding rang out from her spirit. Her screaming and sobbing stopped. Her eyes closed and she fell perfectly back into her body.

If they waited another five seconds, Hiyori's Cord would've been cut. She would've been dead.

Yukine and Mayu sighed a sigh of relief. Yato continued to silently hate himself and sat there, watching Hiyori sleep.

He never asked to be a god of calamity. He never asked to fall in love. He never asked for this to happen. Yet, there he was; a god of calamity in love with someone who almost died.

"Arigato, Mayu," Yukine said, rubbing the back of his head. "You really helped."

Mayu smiled, then she shrugged. "Hiyori is a sweet girl. She doesn't deserve to share our fates."

Yato didn't say anything.

. . . . .

With Mayu safely back at her Master's shrine, Yato and Yukine walked back to Kofuku's shrine together. The three of them this time.

Yukine was excited to show up with Hiyori and surprise Kofuku and Daikoku. He couldn't wait to hang out with the brunette again.

Yato carried Hiyori in his arms as he always did. Although, he was a few paces back from his Regalia.

All of a sudden, Yukine heard the sound of someone falling down. He stopped in his tracks. He turned around, thinking he would see Yato passed out or something. To his surprise, Yato was not passed out.

In fact, he was on his knees, holding Hiyori while she was unconscious. He held her up to his face, his lips pressing against hers. The god of calamity was kissing her as she slept. His cheeks were beet red.

Yukine blushed hard and averted his eyes from the sight. He held his hand up to shield his face so that he could give them privacy.

He couldn't believe it. Yato was actually kissing Hiyori!

Not only kissing, but Yato had pressed his lips against Hiyori's until she could feel his love.

He wanted her to know he was dearly sorry for what happened. He wanted to make it okay again. His finger caressed her cold cheek.

Hiyori, slightly awake but too weak to move, let him continue. It felt nice. Maybe even better than nice. His smell, his kissing, his everything.

Hiyori loved Yato. She was glad to have him. However, she was too tired to show him her love back. So instead, a single, happy tear rolled down the girl's cheek.

. . . . .

Yukine pulled open the sliding door to Kofuku's shrine.

"Better make a feast for breakfast tomorrow!" Yukine cried, too thrilled to keep himself together.

Daikoku and Kofuku exchanged curious looks.

Yukine backed out of the way, letting Yato carry a snoozing Hiyori inside.

"Hiyorin!" Kofuku cried, jumping up.

"Well, I'll be damned!" Daikoku said, his cigarette jiggling out of the corner of his mouth as he spoke.

Yato giggled to himself. He smiled. His first actual smile since he realized Hiyori was missing. It was a small one, but it was still there.

"Look, Hiyori," he whispered to her, gently swiping her bangs out of her face. She couldn't hear him, but even so, he said, "Your friends missed you."

He couldn't quit staring at the girl's angelic face. Now, ever since he kissed her, he's been having the constant urge to keep doing it. He wanted to kiss her again, but it would be a bit much to show up with her and just start making out in front of everyone.

Yato carried Hiyori to the room he and his Regalia shared. He took another pillow and placed it on the other side of his sleeping bag. There, he lay her down.

By the time everyone was asleep, Hiyori still hadn't woken up.

Yato got under the sheets with her on the other side. After staring at her and being happy to have her back, he soon fell asleep, feeling safe and secure with her next to him.
