Chapter 3

"Well Ms. Anderson, I think its obvious what happened to your wrist. Now may I ask what happened?"

"She was-" X started, but I cut him off. 

"I was playing around and fell on it the wrong way. Clumsy me." I said sheepishly. The doc looked at me sceptically, but I stuck with my story and she just sighed.

"Well then, the nurse will be back in to put on the cast. I'll see you again in 6 weeks." When the doctor left, I turned to X and quickly looked away. The intensity of his stare was making me uncomfortable, so I started fidgeting. 

"Who was that guy at the house?" I knew he would eventually ask me that, but I was hoping that by some miracle he wouldnt ask. 

"He was nobody."

"Nobody doesnt just break your wrist!" He said, his voice raising with each word. His outburst was a little suprising, but I tried to hide it. 

"He is nobody imp-" X suprised me by grabbing my face and pulling my face so close that our noses were almost touching.

"Baby, dont lie to me." His intoxicating breath and knee weakening eyes held me in place and kept me from answering his question. We just stared at each other until I heard the door opening. I pulled away and smiiled at the nurse. 

"Hell Ms. Anderson and Mr.-" She trailed off for X to fill in the rest.

"Jameson."

"And Mr. Jameson. I've come to put the cast on. I know you took those pain pills but if anything starts to feel uncomfortable then tell me and we can readjust the wrappings." I just nodded and looked down at my bruised and swollen wrist. 

The nurse kept up with small talk and I answerd back with little enthusiasm until my arm up to my forearm was wrapped in a cast. "Well all done, you can go sort out everything at the front desk then be on your way." She smiled brightly then walked out of the room, leaving me ans X in our awkward silence.

"He's my ex." I randomly said, breaking into the intense silence.

"Excuse me?"

"The guy at the house, Frank, is my ex boyfriend. We dated for 9 months before he cheated on me and I broke it off. He never got the hint that we were over, hence the arguement, but he never- he never hurt me before." I said finishing off softly. 

At one point, Frank was the sweetest, kindest man I knew. He treated me like a queen in the bedroom and out. I didnt even know something was wrong until our anniversary though. For our 9 month anniversary I tried to suprise him at his job, just to find his secretary with her skirt hitched up, her pink thong ripped on the floor, and my boyfriend frantically pumping into her. 

I broke up with Frank then and he called and texted me non stop trying to win me back. I went rom heart broken to annoyed quickly and he still hasnt gotten the hint. 

"Z?" Xavier's voice broke me out of my memeories and I gave him a weak smile. "Are you okay?" I nodded and slid off the hard hospital bench. 

"I'm fine now. Thank you for what you did earlier." I dont know what would have happened if X wasnt there. I shivered in fear at the possibilities. 

"I wont let him hurt you anymore than he already did. He wont touch you again." The conviction in his voice allowed me to believe him and once again I found myself finding comfort in his presence.

When X pulled into the driveway, he got out of the car and came and opened the door for me. "Thanks." He nodded in acknowledgement and opened the house door for us. 

"Who the hell are you?" I jumped in suprise when I saw Gionni standing in the doorway with his hands crossed over his expansive chest.

"And who the hell are you?" X countered back stepping closer to Gionni. Both of them were strong and muscular so their fight would be explosive and dangerous, something I did not want to see. 

"Well Gio, this is my roomate for a while Xavier, X this is my best friend Gionni." I said introducing the two men. 

"And how could you forget little ole me?" Gionni's twin and my other best friend Becca said, leaning against my doorway with a sandwich in hand. 

"And that is Becca, Gionni's twin." X sized up Gionni once more before holding out his hand for a greeting. Gionni stared at it for a second before shaking hands with him. I rolled my eyes at the two guys then went over to hug Bec.

"I missed you Becky! It's been a while since I've seen you!" I said throwing my arms around her neck. She chuckled and returned the hug.

"It's only been 3 days."

"3 very long days." I said overexaggerating the word long. I squealed when I was swept into Gionni's strong arms. 

"And you forget about me, Bella?" GIonni said using his sexy native language.

"I could never forget you Gio." I gave him a kiss on the cheek and he put me back on my feet. 

"Well you seem fine, so I'm gonna head to my room." X said slightly awkward. I nodded then when he almost walked out of the room, I followed after him and hugged him tightly. 

"Seriously, thank you for earlier." He turned around and kissed my forehead.

"You dont have to thank me, baby." He walked out of the room and down the hallway to the backyard. 

I turned back to Gionni and Becca's accusing stare. "What?" I asked them shrugging my shoulders. 

"What do you mean what? Explain why you have a gorgeous man staying in your house, a cast on your arms, and he's calling you baby and kising your forehead!" 

"It's a long story. But the baby thing is just a nickname, he doesnt mean anything by it. He kissed my forehead because he was worried about me earlier, the cast is from Frank, and he's living here because Ava's house is under renovations and X is her fiancee."

"Her fiancee? He's the mystery man who we've never met is that man who just walked in here about to fight Gionni as if he was about to attack?" 

"Yup." The was a quick silence. 

"Well, she's one lucky b*tch. I would love to have him in my b-" 

"In your what?" Gionni said cutting off his little sister by 5 minutes. He was over protective in the most adorable way. 

"I was gonna say back pool house. Jeez." When Gionni turned away she winked at me and mouthed 'bedroom' to me to roll my eyes and smirk at her.

"Well let's stop standing around and go watch a movie or something. And dont think I didnt catch what you said about Frank and your wrist." Gionni said walking towards my living room. 

"Crap." I mumbled under my breath. 

"And you thought you were off the hook." Becca said snorting as she walked past.
