Chapter 23

"What did Xavier just say?" My mother asked slowly. I sighed. The game was over, our families knew and if my mother's reaction was any indication, this was going to be tough.

"He said that we are together, which we are." My mother jumped out of her chair and raised her hand to hit me, but X jumped in front of me quickly.

"Now I respect you alot Mrs. Anderson and I understand you're angry, but you will not hit her." He said in a low voice that got his point across very well.

"You never defended me like that." Ava said in a sad voice, which caused X to sigh.

"Look, I'm sorry that everyone found out this way. We were going to tell you in a better way before he showed up." X said guesturing to Frank.

"Matter of fact, why are you here? You've been nothing but a problem to me. Why can't you just leave me alone?"

"Darling, I still love you." Frank said really exaggerated.

"No you dont! Leave me alone!" I saw his face change and he grabbed my hair and yanked so hard that my neck cracked.

"You are mine, you b*tch!" My father jumped in and grabbed Frank by the neck.

"How dare you touch my daughter like that? I could kill you right now." He threw Frank down to the ground and kicked him in the gut. "Stay away from my daughter." Frank got up and staggered out of the house giving everyone dirty looks.

I began to moan in pain as the adrenaline wore off. "Baby where hurts the worst?"

The pain was radiating from the back of my neck the most. I pointed to the back of my neck and started sobbing. In the background I heard little Evie crying and I felt bad that she had to see all that.

"X, bring Evie over here." He didn't question me and brought her over.

"Hey Evie. I'm sorry you had to see that bad guy but I'm going to be okay and your uncle isn't going to be mad anymore. Okay? Can you smile for me?"

She gave me a watery smile and stepped away just as the paramedic came in.

"Okay so what happened?" X explained to the paramedic while my family gave their statements to the police officer that had come in after the paramedics.

"And how many months pregnant is she?"

"6"

"Is she allergic to anything?"

"No, but can I ride with her?"

"Are you family? No, I'm her boyfriend." The paramedic just nodded as he nodded to his partner to help me on the stretcher.

"Wait X-"

"Later Ava." He didn't even glance in her direction. It gave me slight pleasure to see him dismiss his ex fiancée like that, even if she is my sister.

The paramedic put a gas mask over my face that had a weird smell and in a couple seconds, I was gone.

Ava's POV

It hurt. Just a month ago I was engaged to marry the man of my dreams and now he wouldn't even spare me a second glance.

The way he looked at Zoe was never a look I received. He looks at her as if she is a goddess that he is just lucky to have in his presence. My eyes started to water and took a shaky breath trying to ease the pain in my chest.

"Ava?" I turned to face my dad and busted in tears. He hugged me close to him and I cried into his chest like a baby.

"He never treated me like that, Daddy. He never looked at me like that. He didn't even give me a second glance because he was so worried about her." I cried harder and he wrapped me tighter in his arms.

"Get out of my house! Your son has caused enough problems for this family." Mom was screaming at Xavier's mother and aunt, which was making Evie cry again.

The evil, hurt part of me wanted to see them get kicked out of the house, but the other part of me realized that it wasn't their fault.

"Diana, what are you doing?" My dad said as he made his way towards his wife.

"Their son has caused so many problems with her." My mom sneered.

"That her you talk about is our daughter." He turned to Xavier's family. "I'm sorry about this. I sincerely apologize for we actions."

"It's fine. This has been a stressful day. We'll see you at the hospital." There was something else that wasn't done for me. When I was in the hospital with the flu and being overstressed nobody came to check in on me.

I just gathered my purse and quietly left after Xavier's family. I needed more answers.

I arrived at the hospital and asks the receptionist for my sister's room. I made my way there and saw Luke standing outside with his arms crossed. "Ava."

"Luke." I looked past him to go into the room and he paused before moving out of the way of the door.

"Beware, it might not be something you want to see." I hesitated but realized it was now or never.

I opened the door and saw Xavier gently stroking Zoe'a hair as she slept. Before he noticed I was there, I saw him peck her lips gently then slowly carress her cheek.

"Is she okay?" He looked up at me and nodded.

"He fractured a vertebrae, but she will heal fine." I nodded and stood there awkwardly.

"Did you cheat on me with my sister?" He paused before nodding.

"I'm sorry, Ava. I honestly regret doing that, but I don't regret falling in love with Zoe." That hurt.

"Is that child yours?" He paused even longer, but never stopped looking at my sister.

"No."

"Do you wish it was?"

"Yes." That was all I needed to hear before I ran out of the room. I passed Luke and his face held pity.

"I'm sorry, Ava." I couldn't deal with it and I thought about leaving before I decided to go to Gionni's room.

I opened the door and saw him writing on a board with Elliot sitting next to him.

"What are you doing here?" Elliot asked kind of rudely, but I just let it go.

"Can I speak with Gionni privately?" I asked and Gionni shook his head no.

'Whatever you have to say needs to be said in front of both of us.'

I took a deep breath. "When the baby is born, you can have full custody. You and Elliot will make great parents." He looked shocked.

'Why?'

"Because I can't offer this baby the kind of love that they need. Goodbye, Gionni." I walked out of the room and was met with an angry looking Becca. I

Just held up my hands and sighed in defeat.

"I came in peace and I'm leaving now anyway." She gave a suspicious look, but walked past me back into the room.

I went back to my car and rested my head against the window. I had no one now.

I'm all alone.

In Ava's POV to get some major things across.

So X and Zoe are still keeping their baby a secret even with how everything played out. Frank is getting bold and crazy. Ava has basically been rejected by everyone, how will she react now??
