Xavier’s POV:

I rubbed my hands over my face and sighed as I put the papers on my desk. “You alright, man?” I looked up and saw my best friend, Luke, staring at me sort of worriedly.

“No. I don’t know what to do.”

“What’s up? Are we in some secret debt or something?” I shook my head.

“No, about Ava.”

“Oh, second thoughts?” Luke still didn’t know about Zoe and I was debating on telling him.

“Look, I need to tell you something, but I need you to promise to hear me out completely.”

“Sure man, whatever this is seems serious enough.” I took a deep breath and ran a hand through my hair.

“I got a woman pregnant.” Luke’s eyes opened wide and his jaw dropped.

“Dude, did you tell Ava?” I shook my head.

“The problem is, I fell in love with the woman and it’s Ava’s sister. Since the house went under renovations, I’ve been staying with Zoe and I love her man.” I said groaning.

“Damn, that’s definitely a problem. What about Ava?”

“You see, that’s what I don’t know. I mean, I love Ava. I always will and obviously I was engaged for a reason, but Zoe- she’s like a breath of fresh air.” I smiled just thinking about the gorgeous dark haired woman.

“Well I can’t tell your feelings are real. The grin is enough to tell.” Luke said laughing. “When can I meet her?”

“Maybe tonight. Let me call her.” During our conversation, Luke had gravitated to a chair, so when I pulled out my phone he sat back and loosened his tie.

“Hello?”

“Hey baby. How are you doing?”

“Today’s been a good day for me and munchkin.” I smiled, knowing that she was rubbing her stomach right now.

“I’m glad, tell my little munchkin that I love them. And I want to introduce you to one of my friends, is tonight alright?”

“You want to introduce me?” She sounded shocked. I didn’t like that. I never wanted her to doubt anything.

“Of course, baby.” I wanted to tell her that I loved her, but I definitely didn’t want it to be over the phone.

“Okay then. I will cook dinner, what time will you be home?”

“I will be home in another 2-3 hours. I will call when I’m about to leave the office.”

“Okay, anything specific?” I knew Luke could hear our conversation since my office was so quiet and he shook his head.

“Nope, whatever your little heart desires.” I chuckled and I could basically hear her roll her eyes.

“Yeah, yeah. Anyway see you at home. Love you.” She hung up before I could answer back and I just stared at my phone.

She loved me? I was celebrating inside and I looked up to see Luke smirking at me.

“Seems like a keeper. I liked Ava when I met her, so we’ll see. And maybe now is a good time to tell her you lover her back.” Luke laughed as if he’d told a funny joke and got up.

“Well it’s time to get back to work. Meet you back in her in an hour and a half?”

“Why and hour and a half? By the look on your face, you want to be home right now.” He was right, so I just nodded and watched him shake his head as he walked out of my office.
