I sat, drumming my pencil against the desk, a depressing aura surrounding me.
Maddie, my best friend stared at me, her face saying; "What's up with you?"
She was clearly confused."Now, class." Ms. McMullin bleated. "This week we're working on the wonders of AIR. Air, it's so lovely..."
I quickly tuned her out and began to think of me, Mom, & Dad riding our horses around our pasture, laughing and smiling. I smiled. But then, Dad looked me square in the face.
"Cassie." He said.
HUH? I thought.
"CASSIE."
What's going on? I thought.
"CASSIE!" He repeated, fuming. I watched in shock as be struck me across my face. I quickly was snapped back into reality.
"Cassie! I've called you're name 3 times! I asked you to answer question 5. But you've run out of chances.." She ranted.
She took out and office slip, filled it out, and angrily tossed it at me. I turned red with embarrassment as the whole class watched me trudge off to the office.
At the office
"Hmm.. Daydreaming in class, huh?" She said coldly.
"Uh, yes. I'm sorry. I was just thinking of my Mom.. She died last year." I said.
"Well I don't give a crap about what happened to your Mom. You're gonna be a failure if you keep thinking about her." She said.
I just sat there, speechless at tge behavior of this adult.
"Now, go to detention. You're also suspended for a week, you understand?"
I nodded. "Yes ma'm.."
I said, and trudged off once more to the detention room.I hate this school.. I wish things could be okay again..
