I jolt awake.

"Huh?..." I'm on the couch, Dad beside me, his arms around my shoulders.

"Oh, hey, you're awake." He said.

I rub my eyes. "Yeah. Crying makes you tired."

"I know." He looks hurt again. "I'm so sorry, pumpkin..."

He slaps his leg. "It's my fault! If only I'd get over your mother, we'd stop suffering..Both of us."

I sit up and nod. I walks to the kitchen to make some oatmeal. I work mindlessly, not really paying attention.
I sit back down on the couch with dad and watch Fox 21 News.

A Kentucky horse-owner is selling their horse, Charm, a palomino mare, 8 years old, for free. They say they need her gone ASAP as they are moving to New York and are not able to take their prized dressage horse with them. If you are interested contact the cellphone number on the bottom of the screen.

I looked pleadingly at dad. We still had saddles, food, bits, bridles, blankets, everything to take care of a horse with still in the stables. He raised a brow. I stuck out my lip in a puppy-dog beg.

He sighed. "Cassie.."

"Father, please! This could help you and me! You have to get over mom, and this could help! She's free, she does dressage, and we still have everything we need to take care of a horse. Oh please, Father? Please??" I begged.

He ran his hands through his hair and sighed again. "Okay, kiddo. But it's your responsibility.." He began.

"Oh God, daddy, thank you!!" Exclaimed Amy. I had already dialed the number, now I just hit call.

"Hello?"

"Hello, yes. I'm Cassie Spencer and I'd like to purchase your horse.." I explained.

"Oh, really? That's amazing, dear! We have to move to The Big Apple and there is just no room for a horse there, I'm afraid.."

"Yes. We're off of Dixie Dr. . I'm available right now if you want to drop her off.."

"Oh, yes. I'll come check out your place to see if it's suitable, okay sweetie? I'll be there soon, about 5 minutes." The lady said.

"Okay, thanks! I'll wait outside." I said.

I hung up and skipped to the porch, sitting down on the flowery swing and rocked. I hummed 'Beer for my Horses' and smiled.

This was really happening.
