I stood there in shock.Not knowing how to react to such a surprise.I hadn't seen my father in 7 years.Yet somehow he looked exactly the same.

Suddenly it clicked my father ,whom i hadn't seen in so long was standing in front of me.I ran into his arms and started crying.I know i probably look like a big baby but i couldn't help it.

"I missed you so much dad."

"I know honey, i know."

We stood there for a few more moments then we broke apart.I wiped my eyes and looked into his bright blue ones.I never understood how my eyes were so dark brown and his were blue.

"We need to talk about some very important things."

"Your not going away again are you?"

"No but we need to talk about you."

He walked inside his house after he said that.I was confused but i quickly followed him into the house.We walked into the living room where i saw my stepmom sitting on the sofa.

I always liked my stepmom she was very kind and wise.She had long shiny black hair with pale skin complection.High cheek bones and those same bright blue eyes as my father.

My father sat next to her so i sat across from them.They looked at each other and i could see their deep love for each other in their eyes.Finally they both turned to me and my dad started first.

"Violette i know your 14th birthday is coming up ,and i think you need to know what might or might not happen."

"What are you talking about dad?"

"Violette i'm a vampire and so is your stepmom."

I sat there in shock not knowing if he was joking or not.I mean those kind of beings didn't exist.Only in the movies right?

I looked at my dad for any signs of joking but saw nothing but seriousness in his eyes.

"Your not joking are you?"

"No."

"Is my mom a vampire too?"

"Im afraid not.Your mom is completely human.Which means you are half human half vampire."

"What did you mean by something might or might not happen on my birthday?"

He looked at my step mom for support.She turned to me and started explaining.

"Well Violette most halflings start turning full vampire on there 14th birthday.But its always hard for them some die even.Only because of their human side that is just as strong as their vampire half.But most do survive.On your birthday you will know it has began because your eyes will turn blue mixed with green.Only created vampires have blue eyes like ours.Halflings always have blue green eyes, you will most likely become full vampire at the age of 16.But you won't stop aging till your 20."

I listened to every word with shock.Not knowing for the second time today how to react.

"So theres a chance i will die."

They both nodded and looked down.My dad looked up quickly again and said.

"But theres a higher chance of you surviving."

Then my stepmother looked up and spoke.

"But don't worry we will help you as much as we can with the change."

"Okay so when do we start training?"

They looked at each other then back at me.

"Now."

They said in at the same time.
