Syd

I watched her take a deep breath before quickly rubbing the back of her hand across her cheek. She looked dazed for a moment and I really thought she was about to fall a part right in front of me but she didn't. She gathered herself together enough to softly run back stage.

The audience clapped and snapped and a few women yelled. "It's alright girl!" to her as she faded into the distance. I don't know why or where it came from but I suddenly felt this sudden urge to follow her and see if she was okay. I don't know why I felt so protective of someone I hardly knew. But I did.

I rubbed my hands down my face adjusted my clothes and took a step in her direction.

"Hey stranger." She said sarcastically rubbing her hand down my arm.

"What's up?" I mumbled taking another step only to have her grab my wrist firmly. Here we go again. "What's up Corri?" I quizzed becoming immediately frustrated by her presence.

"I miss you." She purred stepping closer into my space. She placed one arm around my waist and the other one with my wrist in it behind hers. I gently hugged her and she tightened her hold on me. I released her and swiftly stuck my hands into my pockets as her familiar scent danced across my nose.

"Oh word." I said as she placed her head against my chest refusing to release her grasp.

"Why you tryna act like you don't miss me? ... I know you miss me ..." She whispered into my neck. Placing a soft kiss against my spot. She knew my weakness.

"So how's Jameel?" I almost laughed but somehow managed to keep it together.

"How the fuck would I know?" She said full of attitude. Quickly releasing her grasp on me. I knew that would piss her off.

"Oh my bad ... I thought that was your nigga ... Guess not." I said quickly turning away.

"That shits not funny!" She said loudly grabbing the collar of my shirt and pulling it causing me to face her again. "Oh okay ... I get it ... ya'll think this shit is funny. Like I'm some kind of joke or a toy ya'll can just play with. Well I'm not!"

"Honey, nobody forced you to fuck both of us ... that was your decision. I'm just sorry it didn't work out for you the way you thought it would." I admitted softly grabbing her hand and pulling it away from my collar and walking away.

"This isn't over Sydney!" She yelled behind me as I began to jog towards the backstage exit that Gabby had just run through.

There she stood on the corner as rain lightly fell. I quivered and quickly stuck my hands deeply into my pockets. Wishing I had worn a light sweater. I approached her softly and full of intention. It's as if she could feel my heat nearing. Because she looked my way and our eyes locked. And neither one of us dared to look away.

"Hey.." I mumbled.

"Hey." She whispered.
