Gabby
"Are you okay? ..." She asked sincerely. "I just saw what happened back there." She admitted nodding her head towards the lounge I had just run out of.
"I'm okay." I said meekly. I watched her as she dug her hands into her pockets quickly closing in the gap between us. "Thanks for asking though." I said looking past her in search of the cab I had just called.
"You need a ride?" She offered looking over her shoulder in the direction I was.
"No thanks." I said noticing the pride necklace she had placed around her neck. "I called a cab." I admitted with a fake grin.
"You sure?" She quizzed dangling a set of keys in front of me.
"Yeah. My mother told me not to accept rides from friendly strangers. So I think I'll pass." She smiled and my heart skipped a beat.
"Well I'm Syd." She said extending her hand to shake mines. I hesitated for a moment not sure of what it was that I was feeling.
"Gabby." I said placing my hand in hers. She shook it lightly but lingered a moment before letting it go.
"So I guess we're not strangers anymore." She smirked and I took a moment to acknowledge how much I really liked her face.
"I guess we're not." I half smiled.
"Come on. I'll take you home." She said nodding her head in the direction of the lounge's parking lot.
And for some reason I hesitated. I watched her walk away and felt drawn to her. She stopped and looked over her shoulder before nodding for me to follow her and like a kid I obeyed.
