"Hey." I said as Gabby entered dragging a piece of over stuffed luggage behind her.

"Hey." She said in a monotone.

"Is there more?" I asked taking to my feet. She softly shook her head no before sitting it up right and taking a seat on the same sofa from which I had just rose. "Are you okay?" I asked taking a seat beside her and wrapping my arm around her shoulders.

She dug her face into my chest before pulling my arm closer. And placing her feet onto the sofa. "No." She whispered nuzzling her face into my chest. "Love Spell." She whispered into my chest.

"What?" I said in confusion. I knew her officially breaking things off with Greg would be difficult but damn. I hadn't considered she'd blame a higher force for it. Greg hadn't put a love spell on her. If anything she had put one on herself.

"You smell like Love Spell." She whispered before slowly pulling away from me in confusion. Oh.

"I let Matt's girl wear this the other night. She was complaining about being cold." I said pulling the hoodie off and throwing it aside. She simply nodded her head before once again falling against my chest. "Tell me what happened." I said hoping to change the subject.

"His mother was there." She said causing me to lean away from her in confusion.

"His mother ... Why?" I asked not expecting that response.

"To proposition me." She said sniffling into my chest.

"Proposition you ... How?" I asked still confused. "Was Greg there?" I asked.

"No ... just his mother." She sniffled once more.

"Well Gabby what did she say to you?" I asked pulling away from her and staring deeply into her eyes. She avoided my gaze. "Tell me." I urged placing my hands on her shoulders.

"She wants me to make things right with him." Was all she said but that alone sent a fire raging through my body.

"What does you and him have to do with her?" I asked in an attempt to remain cool. She was clearly upset and I didn't want to upset her more. Because then all I would risk is her shutting down and shutting me out.

"She wants a divorce." Was all she said before pulling away and leaning back into the sofa.

I was lost. I was soo lost. I'm sure my face read of such.

"She asked me to pretend to make things work with Greg. So that I could get him to tell me more about his father's indiscretions. She wants me to gather as much information as possible. She asked me to record all of it. Apparently there's a clause in their prenup that includes cheating. If she can get proof he's cheating then she'll get half of everything. And she'll fund the rest of my college expenses." She huffed.

I took a moment to understand what she was saying before responding. "So are you gonna do it?" I asked. Her face reading of shock. "Hell no!" She said shaking her head wildly. "I'm not getting into that." She said with finality.

"Why not?!" I asked catching her off guard.

"Because I'm not a liar." She said matter-of-factly.

"What's a little white lie if it means you getting through college?" I asked seemingly shocking her more.

"There's no such thing as a little lie. Little lies turn into big lies. And big lies always catch up to you!" She said causing me to sink further into my seat. Considering my own situation. Maybe she was right. Maybe there was no escaping my fate.

Maybe I got it into my head that I was doing all of this for her. And since my intentions were pure that I'd be spared. But who am I kidding? Doesn't it all eventually come back to haunt you in the long run.

"You should go." I whispered.

"What?" She said understandably confused. She couldn't hear my thoughts after all.

"I don't want to be the reason you lose everything." I whispered realizing that maybe I was just no good for her after all. And taking to my feet. "C'mon I'll take you home." I said reaching for her hand.

She stared at me for a moment as if I disgusted her. Almost as if she wanted to spit on me. Before fixing her face and rising to her feet. Taking her luggage into her hand and leading the way.

She didn't understand. And how would she if I never told her the truth.

Greg wasn't a good guy. But neither was I.

Greg was a liar. A cheater. And a manipulator. But he wasn't a killer ...

I picked up my keys from the coffee table and followed the same path which she had took.

The one that led her to greener pastures that she couldn't even imagine right now.
