I was extremely tempted to nudge either Ethan or Alex as we stood at the edge of tartarus looking into the black abisk. But it's not like I wanted them to die or anything I just wanted to see there reaction if I just tapped them on the back, but I refrained we moved on towards the caves of despair.
"You know I feel like we should leave a trail." I said as I stood looking into the caves.
"What like a trail of bread crumbs?" Said Ethan sarcastically.
"That's a good idea but let's just call that plan Z, I was thinking more of like a line of rope or like making a mark on the wall every 5 feet." I replied.
"Ok well string only works for the labyrinth so let's just mark the wall." Alex chimed in.The caves were more like passages with large rooms every once in a while. Alex led and created a ball of light, Ethan was marking the wall with a piece of chalk which he had on him for some reason and I came up in the rear. After walking through the caves for what seemed like a day (but from probably only three hours) we found a cave entrance that was blocked by a giant boulder.
"Well this definitely has potential." Said Alex. "So should I blow it up?" Alex said holding a ball of light that looked a lot more explosive then her last one.
"Um, let's try for a silencer approach, we don't know what's on the other side of this rock. Ethan, could you make us invisible?" I said.
"Yeah I could try." Ethan said.He summoned is spell book and turned to a random page read it over then cleared is throat. He said some things that didn't even sound like words and a mist encompassed us. When the mist cleared we were invisible, mostly. I could see like a general outline of Ethan and Alex but I'm not sure if that's because the spell didn't entirely work or because I was invisible to.
"Did the spell work?" I asked.
"Of course it did, we're the only ones who can see each other I would like to note though that this doesn't mask our scent though. Ethan answered.
"Ok guys in gonna shadow travel us to the other side of this wall, try to be quiet."It was challenging to shadow travel to the other side because I had no idea what it looked like. I'm sure I'll be better with practice but now I basically have to know what the place I want to travel to looks like.
Any who... after a one or two (nine or ten) shadow travels to here and there (including the inside of a volcano!) I hit the mark and silently toppled (yes, it's possible to topple silently) into the cave.
"I think this is it." Alex said after looking around to make sure no one was close enough to hear.
"What makes you say that?" Ethan said sarcastically.
"Oh I don't no maybe the freaking dragon!" She snapped.
"Shhh... guys, I think someone's coming." I said putting my invisible finger to my mouth in a shushing motion. We all turned toward the now opening entrance. When it was barely cracked open, a blond boy wearing a toga walked in. Besides his "fashionable" toga he wore a belt with a sword and teddy bears. Wait teddy bears? Why does he have teddy bears?
"Octavian?! I thought he was dead!" Alex whispered, shocked.
"He should be!" Ethan whispered just as surprised if not more.
"Wait who is that guy?" I asked.
"We'll tell you later." Alex said.
"Shhh!" Ethan said. The boy- Octavian walked up to the dragon, he had an air of smugness around him like he knew he already won.
"Ah Friagon." He said as if he was greeting an old friend. "I hate to inform you but our time together is quickly running out because, you see in only a matter of hours I will have what I want."
The dragon stared at him with a look so terrifying I'm surprised it didn't actually freeze him solid."Why wish a look?" Octavian replied with a mocking sad face. "Don't worry you won't have to live without me, in fact I can't let you live."
Ok well my first thought about him was that he was a crazy sociopathic lunatic with a God complex... I think I was right on the money.
