"Why aren't you leading us if your the daughter of Hades?" Asked Ethan
"The prophecy said light will guide Death and besides I don't know where it is." I said
We've been walking for only about 20 minutes and we've made good progress but it still wasn't fast enough.
"Here guy's take my hands." I said. "I'm going to try something."
"If you kill us I will haunt you for the rest of your life" said Alex.
"I'm the ghost queen if you die I have control over you." I said with a mischievous smile. "On three, 3."
"Aaaaahh!"
"We're going to die"
It's harder to shadow travel to a place you can't see but I pictured NYC in my mind and focused on the spot in central park where it all started, the trees the leaves on the ground, the green grass and even the weeds...
"See I told you we wouldn't die." I said to Alex and Ethan who were spralled on the ground.
"Technically you never said we wouldn't die all you said is that if we died you could control us." Ethan said shakingly getting back up to his feet.
It took Alex a bit longer then Ethan to come to her senses.
"Maybe traveling through darkness wasn't the best idea for you sunshine." I said helping her up.
"I'm fine and besides shadow traveling is the fastest way to get to L.A." Alex said steadying herself.
"Guys I know where we have to go. We have to go to my apartment." I said.
I wasn't crazy about running into my Mon but it's the middle of the day so mom would probably be at work, I'm sure she did but I really hope she didn't call the police.
"It's only a few blocks from here let's go." I said.
Alex and Ethan looked at each other and shrugged, following me.
When we got to the apartment I realized I didn't have a key. I reached under the doormat and found the spare, thank goodness mom but it back.
"Come on in." I said after making sure my mom wasn't home.
Our apartment was a bit on the larger side and everything was modern and sleek, except for my bedroom. My bedroom is modern but it's not as sleek as the rest of the house. It has fuzzy dark pink carpet with black walls and a dark wood loft and a tv, it's my favorite room in the house.
"I have some money and I want to grab some clothes." I said. "You guys should go see what foods around, try to grab things that won't spoil quickly." I said.
I grabbed my hand mirror just in case I would need it and my leather jacket as well as an extra t-shirt and shorts.
"You guys find anything." I said walking into the kitchen.
Ethan was about to respond when we heard the lock mechanism in the door click. Before we had time to react the door opened and there stood my mother a shocked expression crossing her face.
"Raven... what are you..., why, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!" My mom said exasperated and panicky.
"Mom, don't freak out. I'll explain everything just please don't call the police." I said trying to calm her down.
"Oh Raven, I've been so worried about you." Mom said crying and strangling me in a hug.
"But you didn't call the police? Actually why didn't you call the police?!" I said after mom stopped choking me in her hug.
"Oh sweet heart, I know about your father." She said tearing up. "I thought the truth might have revealed itself to you, actually I was about to notify the police but you're here and your ok." Mom hugging me again.
"Wait you knew? Why didn't you tell me?" I said, anger peaking into my voice.
"Oh sweetie, I wanted to tell you, I really did, but Hades said you'd be in more danger if you knew." Mom said.
" *cough* *cough* , I hate brake up this touching moment but we can't stay forever and we should probably leave sooner then later." Said Alex.
"Oh mom this is Alex, daughter if Apollo, and Ethan, son of Hecate." I said remembering they were there.
"Oh hello." My mother said awkwardly
"I'm sorry mom but there right we have to leave, long story short we're on a quest and we have to get to the underworld, and to get there we have to go to L.A, so I'm sorry but we really have to go." I said.
"O-ok, I know we don't have much time but please be careful and know I love you so much and make sure to come back." Mom said trying to keep a steady face.
"I will mom." I said. "I love you." Pulling her into a hug.
"Come on Raven." Ethan said sorrowful. "It was nice to meet you Ms.Zoe."
I walked toward the door and gave my mom a reassuring smile before leaving.
"So that's your mom." Ethan said.
"Yeah." I said numbly.
"So, where to next?" Alex said.
"L.A, not sure where to go in between though. I said. "Actually I have one idea, let's take the subway to the end and go from there, I still have some subway tokens."
"Well it's a start." Alex said.
