Lyle POV

My wolf scolds me as I pace back and forth in my office. Wendy is cleaning the blood off the floor as I drink glass after glass of Scotch.

How could you do that? Especially after Carrie opened up to us and gave herself willingly to us? Yet Arianna waltzes in here and you drop your pants like it's no big deal. Lucian rambles on. He's right.

I set my glass down as I run through what happened in my head. I remember filling out paperwork for the rules of the new pack house. Arianna busted into my office and closed the door. I remember her trying to sweet talk me into letting her be Luna.

When I turned her down she dropped her shirt to the floor. I took one look at her breasts and lost myself, betrayed my mate. I was too focused on pleasuring myself and not about my mate's feelings.

Shit what if she rejects me? What if she doesn't want me anymore? It'd kill me to hear her reject me. I head out to Carrie's room. She isn't there. I follow Beast's yipping downstairs to the entertainment room.

Carrie is laying on the floor throwing a ball for Beast as she stares at the ceiling. Tears stream her cheeks as she lies there. She's still in her blood covered jeans and band tee. Splatters of blood covered her arms and face. I step toward her and she looks over to me. She sits up, wiping her tears and taking Beast into her arms.

"What do you want?" She scowls at me. It sours her pretty face. My heart breaks seeing her so broken.

"Carrie, baby doll, can we talk?" She grows still and tears drip down her cheeks.

"You're going to reject me, aren't you?" She asks, Beast licking the tears off her left cheek.

"Baby girl, no. Never. I gave you that mark for a reason," I say. She looks me dead in the eyes.

"Yeah so everyone knows your mine while you fuck the entire pack's unmated females," she shouts, standing up. She places Beast on the floor and he sits next to her left foot.

"No because I love you! I've loved you since I laid eyes on you! Yeah I wasn't good at showing you but dammit I've gotten better!" I shout back. There's a knock on the door to the room we're standing in. Wendy walks in.

"Carrie, sweety, someone is here to see you. He says he's you're friend and that he's been concerned about you," Wendy says and leaves. We follow Wendy to the living room. There a boy with dark hair and a strong build in an all black outfit sits on the couch. Carrie gasps and whimpers slightly. I look over and see the hurt in her eyes.

"Danny?" She asks. The boy looks up and smiles at her adoringly.

"Hey there Carrie," he says, he looks her up and down. "Whoa why are you covered in blood?" She looks down at herself and rolls her eyes.

"Long story, let me go change and we can talk about what you're doing here," she says. Her voice is cold, and full of hurt as she picks up Beast and walks to the stairs. I look to Danny and glare at him. I let out a low growl.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" I ask angrily. He stands up.

"I'm Carrie's best friend. I haven't seen her in almost a month and was worried about her. After all I did kinda accidentally break her heart," he replies. I grow angrier.

"So you're the no good mate that rejected her after she poured her heart and soul out to you. Now you've come crawling back to take her from me," I growl, picking him up by the collar of his shirt.

"Dude, chill I-"

"Both of you stop!" Carrie yells as she enters the room in a tank top and sweats. I set Danny down and he glares at me. We all three sit down. "What do you want Danny?"

"I came to apologize. And see if maybe we could start over. Try again."
