The next morning I'm a bundle of nerves. Lyle becomes Alpha today. The ceremony isn't until eight. The harvest moon is going to be out tonight. The most ideal moon for a ceremony of any sort to take place under.
I look over at my dress for tonight, hanging on my door. It's a forest green, floor length, fairy tale dress. The black pattern at the bottom travels up to the hip and the sleeves hang like moss. It's the most elegant dress I've ever seen. Lyle comes into the room, a huge smile on his face.
"How's my princess?" He asks. I smile and hug him.
"I'm good, why are you so happy?" I ask him. He kisses me.
"I have a surprise planned for you after the ceremony princess. You're going to love it," he beams, kissing me again. Butterflies errupt in my stomach. He looks at his watch. "I gotta go. Lots of planning to do. I'll see you later princess." With a kiss on the cheek he heads out the door.
I get dressed and head downstairs. The house is chaotic. Kids running around and parents trying to decorate for the ceremony. The pack band practicing for later while drooling fan girls sat and watched. I went around and helped decorate and set things up.
"Thank you, Luna," is repeated to me by multiple pack members and before I know it, it is six. I hurry upstairs and get ready. I did a dramatic winged eyeliner with soft pink lips and a bit of blush. My hair set in a royal updo and pinned with a butterfly clip.
I slip on my dress and matching heals and exit my room. As I descend the stairs the pack member stop and gasp. Hushed tones fill the room as they stare at me.
Lyle walks up to me and grabs my hand gently.
"You look beautiful," he says and kisses me gently. The stares continue as we make our way to the stage set up out back. I catch a few words from several pack members as we walk.
"So jealous," one girl says.
"I'd give anything to have her in my bed tonight," a man in his thirties says. I cringe a bit. He's mated and has two kids. Scumbag. I catch the voice of someone familiar.
"She's going to be the prettiest Luna yet," Wendy whispers. I smile. We climbs the stairs to the stage. I sit on the left side with Caroline while Lyle and his father stand around a bowl on a podium in the center. Julian cuts open his hand and squeezes blood into the bowl.
"I, Julian Forestway, pass my position as alpha to my son Lyle Forestway in way of retirement and hope for a better future for this pack," Julian speaks. Lyle cuts his hand and squeezes blood into the bowl as well.
"I, Lyle Forestway, take on being alpha of this pack, in way of rebuilding it and helping it thrive to see better days," Lyle speaks. They put their bleeding hands together and speak in unison.
"I give all power to you!"
"I take all power from you!" A surge of energy flows throw the air and then they clean themselves up. Lyle looks over at me and smiles. "There is one more thing to do." He walks over and gets down on one knee. I gasp and tears fill my eyes as the pack gasps and whispers.
He pulls out a six carrat princess cut ring.
"Carrie Bloodsworth, will you marry me?"
