Chapter 4

(Eden's POV)

I walked down the long hallway and made a left at the stairs. I stood at the top step unable to move my feet. Something didn't feel right this morning. Something in me told me not to go down stairs.

I pushed the feeling out and took a slow step downwards.

When I reached the bottom step I looked around. No one was there, but I felt eyes buried into my head. I didn't like this feeling. I couldn't place a finger on it, but something bad was going to happen.

I walked to Ms. Callow's room and waited outside the door. I looked at the small clock sitting on the table a few feet away from me. I was later than normal to wake Ms. Callow. Usually she would have called for me by now.

I slowly opened the door and walked in.

"Ms. Callow, are you awake?" She didn't reply.

"I don't mean to bother you Mam but it is time time to wake up." I felt nervousness creep inside me.

I walked over to her frail body and shake her shoulder. She didn't move, even a little stir.

I turned her face toward me and without the littlest bit of warning,

I screamed.

(Elisia POV)

I walked over to the small sitting area in Eden's room. I looked at the large fireplace and had the urge to start a fire in it. Something about this morning felt so cold and distant. I let myself fall into a daze.

She looked up at me and smiled shyly. She looked absolutely gorgeous in the pale sun light of midmorning. With the sun and the moon still gracing the sky, I felt the warmth touch my skin. I kissed her head softly and laid my cheek on her head. She nestled closer to me and closed her eyes.

"Elisha?" She spoke in a hushed voice.

"Yes." I replied hugging her tighter into my body. Not willing to let her go.

"Do you love me?" I was taken back, clearly not expecting this question. I didn't have to think about it for even a second before I answered her.

"Of course I do. Why would you even ask me that?" She looked down and shook her head. She tried to pretend it didn't happen but I pushed on with the conversation.

"Eden is everything ok. You can tell me. I love you and wont let anything happen to you." I could feel a type fear begin to fill me. I didn't understand why. She pushed herself away from me. I looked her up and down.

She was in a long white dress, that some what resembled a wedding dress. There were blots of red all over the dress. When my eyes locked in with hers, I couldn't help but gasp. She was pale and her eyes were red and swollen.

"Elisha..." She trailed off. She spoke with such sadness in her voice and she looked down at the ground.

She raised her head and I met a new person. It was still my lovely Eden, but the sad girl who was hear a minute ago was gone. I was met with someone of new emotion. I was met with rage and anger and hate.

"Elisha! You let me die! You killed me!"

As the horrible memory of last nights dream ended I laid my head back in the chair.

"The first dream I have in for ever, and It's a nightmare." I mumbled under my breath. I wiped the sweat from my brow.

Just as went to stand up I heard a deafening scream come from down stairs. I jumped out the chair and pushed the door open with such force it made a dent in the wall. I ran down the hall way at my top speed. I almost missed the stairs all together. I continued to run down the stairs and tripped a little on the last step. I caught myself before I could fall and searched for the location of the scream. I ran to the kitchen, then the family room, then the down stairs restroom (I ran out of rooms to list). And then I finally reached a dark mahogany door. I could here the cries clearly through the door.

"No, n-no, no! S-st-stay w-with me p-p-please!" I could tell that this was Eden from her soft angelic voice, now filled with so much pain and sorrow.

I burst into the room. On the bed laid Gracen's mother, standing above her was Eden giving her the CPR. The old woman wasn't reacting to Eden's attempts at all. She just laid there white as snow, she looked that cold too.

I ran over to Eden who seised her attempts. She looked up at me and fell to her knees. She cried and cried, and I didn't think she would have any tears left. I bent down to her level and sat there, stroking her tied up hair. She leaned her head into my chest and let out a little gasp. She stayed there and her tears soaked into my shirt. I hugged her tight, not wanted to let go.

"Eden you must stop crying, please. You will make yourself ill." I tipped her chin up to face me when I said this. Her eyes where so red and hollow. She stopped crying and let a final tear role down her cheek. I caught it on my finger before it could fall off her face.

I bent down and kissed her forehead. She didn't wince or move away when I did. She leaned back into my chest and closed her eyes. her breath steadied and I picked her up in my arms. She let me without hesitation and I walked to the stairs. When I reached the top I walked to her room. I laid her in her bed and brushed a few hairs out of her face. I undid her bun and let her hair fall past her shoulders. I put the back of my hand to her cheek and then her forehead.

"My my, I knew you would get ill. I will fetch you some water. You need to rest now. I will make sure Gracen knows what happened and this will all be taken care of. I promise. Now sleep." I looked into her eyes and almost cried myself. I could see my reflection in her sad eyes. When I looked into her eyes all I could see was a broken little girl. She had no family, no friends, and the only person she ever came to love as part of her family just died in front of her.

When I got up to leave I felt her small hand wrap around my wrist.

"Please don't leave me alone. I..." She started to cry again.

"Shhhh. It's ok. I wont leave. No more crying." I said in my softest voice. She was like a child, so small in my arms.

I laid on top of the comforter and she snuggled in close to me. Her head resting on my shoulder. I listened to her heart beat as she fell asleep. Her breath was warm on my skin and gave me goosebumps. I rubbed her head and moved her hair out of her face.

When she was finally fully asleep, I set her head on her pillow and got out of the bed. I walked quietly to the door and opened it. I was more cautious of the squeak from the hinges and pushed it open faster. When I stepped out into the hallway I was met by Gracen. I approached him fists clenched.
