~Grace~
I don't know if I heard it right, I don't know if I was dreaming -I hope I was- and if I really was, I want to wake up.
"What?" I croaked.
"I'm sorry, Grace. We didn't want you to know in that way. Let us explain," my father, I'm no sure if I should call him that, pleaded.
"I'm listening," I said.
"Your mother was in love with a guy, who she didn't know was a werewolf, and Alpha to be specific, then somehow she found out about them. And he had to explain about their lives -mates. Standards. All of this. So, when he found his mate, he left your mother, though he loved her, but it was complicated. Your mum had to sacrifice, she didn't know that she had you until it was too late -your father had marked and claimed his mate. He was the Alpha of the neighbouring pack," he explained.
"Was the Alpha?" I gulped.
"He handed over his Alpha position to his son, he's still alive," my mum said.
I have a father. Its not Nate.
My mum then said, "you've got Alpha blood in you; when you get bossy, or take control on something, you remind me so much of him."
My mother's eyes clouded with unshed tears that spoke too many feelings, unexplainable feelings.
"So that explains why you're mated to an Alpha," finally, Tyler spoke.
I mentally groaned.
Couldn't you keep your tongue to yourself?
"What?" My mum and stepfather asked in unison.
"Yeah, how do you think she understood when you said Alpha?" He said casually as he wrapped his hands around my shoulder.
How dare he? Part of me screamed for him to get his hands away. The other part of me squealed in excitement as it was flattered that he was acting like a mate.
No, idiot, he may be fooling around. Do not fall. Shut up, heart.
"You two are mates?" My mother shrilled, forgetting about what we were talking about.
I turned to Tyler who's eyes told me to go with the flow, for my mum.
So I smiled and straightened myself, "Y-yeah," I stuttered.
"How did you know about werewolves?" I asked my stepfather.
"Because, kiddo, I am one."
My jaw dropped open.
My stepfather is a werewolf.
I gasped in realization, "so those meetings you go to every month..."
"At full moon, pack meetings, yes," he filled in my blanks.
"So, mum's your mate?" I asked, curiosly.
And when his face fell, I instantly regretted opening my mouth.
He shook his head, "my mate died in a car crash long before I meet you mother, me and Jason were the only ones who made it" his jaws clenched.
Jason isn't my biological brother.
"Sorry," I muttered.
He shook his head before breathing in sharply, "I'm going for a run."
And I caught a glimpse of sadness itching on his features. He seemed so fragile, weak.
Broken.
When he was out, I dared to ask, "he's gonna shift, isn't he?"
My mother nodded then sighed, "I'm sorry, Grace, I -we didn't want you to know it in this way," she started tearing up.
I sat beside her, wrapping my arms around her shoulder, "it isn't your fault. Its no one's faulty. Besides, Nate makes a good father. And I won't stop calling him dad, anyway."
She snifled before I spoke, "does Jason know?"
She nodded, "we told him that before he goes off to college." She then wiped her tears and started questioning abiut me and Tyler. Most questions were answered by him, though. Sense I couldn't answer questions like how does it feel to have a mate? and How do you control your wolf when you're around each other? or How did you know you're mates?
How, how, how...
And whenever Tyler answered cheesy questions, she'd look at us in awe.
"Would you care to join us for dinner?" She asked, quite... politely.
I saw that coming.
"Actually, I have to go, my parents are probably wondering where I am by now," he said.
"Sure, feel free to visit anytime. I'll go set the tabel, Grace, you walk him to the door," she ordered as she entered the kitchen.
I mentally groan again, but I walked him out anyway.
"Thank you for helping out with the questions," I said awkwardly when we were out of sight.
"Anytime," he rubbed the back of his neck.
I saw dad coming into view, and I knew if I kept my personal space between my mate and I, he'll know something is off. If anyone can explain my actions, it'd be dad. Defenitly.
And I don't want him to know that I won't be the Luna of his pack. Not yet.
"Grace, are you okay?" Tyler snapped me out of my daze.
Dad got closer. Whats shall I do?
I moved closer and wrapped myself around Tyler.
"Wha-"
"Just do the same," I whispered.
He happily obeyed.
I moved away when my father chuckled and entered the house.
"It was just for my father to believe that we're crazily in love, or whatever," I shrugged. "Alright then, uh, I hope everything goes back to normal."
And by normal, I meant before Spain. I guess he got it, since he cracked a small, sad smile and chocked out his words, "sure, mate."
He teared up, but blinked away.
"Bye, Tyler."
How I hate goodbyes, how much it hurts.
"Goodbye."
