Chapter Nine

Her words rang in my ears, I love you, Oliver.

I love you, Oliver. But what I didn't understand was why she had said them? Was this her letting go of me? Of us?

For me, it was. I said goodbye.

-

Two months later...

My cell phone began to ring.

It was Tess. She had put her phone number in my phone awhile back.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey, Oliver, you wanna go get some coffee?"

"Sure." I replied, smiling to myself.

"All right, see you in twenty." she said, hanging up.

I grabbed my hoodie and my Converse then I ran out the door to go meet Tess at the coffee shop.

-

We were sitting at a table near the window, Tess was sipping her coffee and staring out the window.

"Hey." Tess said softly, "Are you okay?" she asked.

"Yes. Why?" I replied, raising my eyebrow.

"Nothing, just wondering," she said, but I knew there was something more, something she wasn't telling me.

I looked away from the window and glanced at her, that's when I realized how much I liked her, she was so radiant.

She met my eyes shyly. "What are you staring at?" she asked curiously.

"You." I replied.

"Me?" she asked, shocked.

"Yes, you."

"Why...?" she asked, she scrunched up her nose all confused.

"Because, you're so beautiful." I murmured.

She smiled and exclaimed, "Oliver! You can't say things that aren't true!"

"But it is true." I replied, smiling. "Tess, will you be mine?"

Her eyes widened and her mouth opened in shock, "But - wha - what? You're shitting me right now, aren't you? There's no way the Oliver Blackwell would be asking me out. Is there?"

"I believe you heard it right, now tell me, would you do the honor of being mine?" I asked, slyly smirking at her.

"Well duh!" she exclaimed, leaning over the table to kiss me.
